The Console Argument

January 28th, 2010

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. However from my opinion (a person who has owned all of the Nintendo Consoles) this has been the worse console that Nintendo have ever made. The question to ask is why?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. with Mario Kart on the Wii that just seemed to take out all of the things that made Double Dash A great game, it has sold because more kids will buy it. In all my time of playing Mario they have never used the same idea twice, what on earth is Mario Galaxy 2 all about?.

So as you can see the Wii is out of it.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. The online although it is free it is very poor and you always find yourself in a game with people unable to speak English. I still do not know why language filters are not in there? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

The 360 has the best games, the best experience when playing and a really good online community. Do not get a Wii as although it is said to be for the entire family, the kids and you will get bored quickly. 360 or a PS3 is the way forward.

To make sure these will not have to be replaced for some serious money, get game console insurance or gadget insurance. Of course you could also get some mobile phone insurance while you are at it.

Xbox 360 Accessories: Starting At The Power Supply To The Sorcery Eye, What Is Next?

December 25th, 2009

An Xbox 360 Power Supply is the most unconsidered of all Xbox 360 accessories.Yet it’s the first thing that’s’s turned on, the 1st step of a fun packed gaming session.  Actually, it’s what broadcasts the mandatory juice to fuel all those adventures!  The Xbox 360 Power Supply ( infrequently referred to as a Power Brick ), is what makes everything and that is literally everything possible.  The Xbox 360 Power Supply must be robust to address the electronic rigors of modern gaming today.  Without the right gear, your system might as well be a toaster.

But who believes of such things when it comes to electronic entertainment?  The standard Xbox 360 power supply isn’t terribly good looking, to be sure.  In a period of immersive experiences and online slaughter-fests, something similar to the Xbox 360 power brick doesn’t sound like anything to brag about.

Gameplayers, especially those with an interest in private computing ( the Xbox is at heart, an individual computer gussed up as a games console, after all ), like to discuss about hardware, and discussing a nice new Xbox 360 power supply system doesn’t quite excite anybody.  It isn’t like getting Microsoft’s forthcoming sorcery eye, for example.  Basically an electronic eye mounted separately from the console, this device will gradually relay spatial information to the console to be used with software incorporating human kinetics in its gameplay.  So no more handheld controllers, even wireless this is the last controller, the ultimate wireless debatable of every one of them : your own body!  Yes, your motions will be caught and translated into onscreen actions accordingly, for the sort of immersive experience only imagined by science-fiction and cartoon books till now.Due on the market in a couple of years, this device will even track your eyeball movements!  So does the line be further blurred between man and machine as the user becomes the control panel himself.

Imagine playing a first-person shooter like glow or Gong of honor where turning your head right causes your onscreen perspective to change accordingly, with views rightwards of your change ego viewed in accordance with your off-screen real-world movements!  More than any hardware controller possible this soon-to-come device will on it’s own redefine videogaming.

So while today’s Xbox 360 games are quite complex, the Xbox 360 Accessories on the horizon will need software that rethinks the entire onscreen / offscreen divide.  Hardware and software exist in a symbiotic relationship, and it will be engaging to see what transpires next now the hardware has taken a quantum leap forward!

Which brings us back to the common power supply.  For regardless of how fancy everything gets, trustworthy juice is the initial duty of any operation.  And a good powerful power brick and strong power wire will remain integral to the reality of next-generation gaming till the coming of Tesla-like wireless electricity!  Until then, if your Xbox 360 Power Supply becomes bankrupt make sure to buy the original new part only , places like Braigo.com offer them at a huge discount, do not gamble your fragile Xbox 360 to any O.E.M Power Supplies.

Buy This Console

November 29th, 2009

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. This console has easily been their worst yet and this comes from someone who owns all of their previous entries. So why is this?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. Mario Kart Wii was at best disappointing as they seemed to take out everything that made Double Dash good. As well as this they are copying Mario Galaxy by adding in a few variations to levels in Mario Galaxy 2.

The Wii (in my opinion) is certainly out of it already.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. However, online, although free, is slow, poor and features many people who cannot even speak English within it. I do not understan why they did not add language filters? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

It would certainly seem that the Xbox 360 has the best online service, the best games and the bettter experience.

Goozex Hands On Review

November 13th, 2009

Where do gamers go?

The choices you have as a gamer are:

  1. Buy (Online, Ebay, used, Gamestop..)
  2. Rent (Gamefly, blockbuster…)
  3. Trade (Goozex, Switchplanet..)

Renting in the past at your brick and mortar rental place can easily set you back more then $5-$7 every week like Blockbuster. There have been other online rental game sites that charge a monthly fee like /month for one game out like Gamefly. Renting isn’t all together bad but playing videogames isn’t like watching movies. There is a considerable larger amount of time invested in videogames then in movies. Most movies range from 1.5 hours to epics of 6 hours. Where most videogames you could get a good feel for a game in 3 hours but most sports games and long role playing games could be played for more then 70 hours.

This is where Goozex steps in. Goozex allows the gamer to keep the game as long as you want but have the option to sell it too. There is only a $1 transaction fee if you request a game on their network. So basically you can trade in your older games and build up Goozex credit until you get enough for a newer title and just pay the $1 transaction fee. A shipping and handling is handled by sender and the buyer only pays . There is no monthly membership so you can stop at anytime or go at a slower pace. This is ideal in the sense that you could play the game until you are actually sick of it then send it in for credit. So you’re not rushed to get as many games played on the network because you can play at your own pace. Plus you OWN the game. From then on the game is yours, not a rental.

You only send games directly to the next member. There is no single central warehouse and the pricing of the credits of the system are in points (100pts = $5). The pricing of the game is determined by market demand, release date, initial cost of the game, and a couple other factors. Most xbox 360 titles will go for 800-1000 pts which translates to $40-$50. This isn’t bad for a used game. Some money can be saved buying used but there is still tax and travel time/cost. Goozex gives you free shipping to you with no tax charge. You also have an option to buy credits if you want but I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have no games to send in or nothing of yours is being requested. The game prices will fluctuate and you will see the price change in your history. I’ve had a couple games I requested and I can see that price increase/decrease. It doesn’t happen that much but some games change +/- 200pts depending on market demand.

So why use Goozex instead of a used videogame store or an auction site with games like Ebay? You just need $1 to pay for the transaction fee. Most people don’t like to continually shell out more money for a game and then feel like the games they bought are depreciating at a very fast rate. Selling your game for cash anywhere will not give you that much. Brick and mortar stores resell your games for a huge mark up. Selling online is tiresome. Goozex at least you get to trade in games you are done with and still get some value out of it as it will lead to other games you really want. There might be more difficulty in sending older sports titles as those don’t have much demand once their season is up like trying to sending in EA sports Madden 2005 will be a hard game to sell to someone on the network. Older games on ebay are a hassle to sell. On Goozex you will be able to list it and it will just stay there without having to pay insertion fees.

Each videogame is packed with information like reviews from Gamepro, some tips/trick, game description, and some even have instructions. I love being able to see the supply and demand of each game. This will let you know if you have a game people want or if you can possibly get a game on the network. Goozex determines who gets the game by matching up users. There is a waiting list that is generated and when you add a game you will see in what place you are waiting for that game. This is a fabulous idea as impatient gamers can tell if they should expect a game soon. You need to make a list for want and haves for your games. They will show you your place in line per game. Great place to build your wishlist. It is ideal to have a very large set of games you want now so you will have a very good chance of getting a game soon. I was requesting Crackdown for the Xbox 360 and I was 60th person in line. I got this game in 14 days. Just because you’re really deep in line doesn’t mean you won’t get the game soon. Newer games do get pushed out in the system fairly quickly. You have many options to what you want to trade in terms of instructions, case or just game. This is helpful as some gamers tend to lose instructions and/or cases. The value of the game doesn’t go down as the credits don’t reflect what is included. This is because the user requesting the game can have the option to request only full packaged games, games with instructions, or just the game itself. I have not had a problem with getting full packages as I’ve gotten over 49 games and I’ve sent out 54 in under 2 years of being there.

Why NOT to use

For this site to be a perfect 5 star site I would like to see:

1. More users (will there ever be enough?)
2. More old school games (nes, snes, saturn….)
3. is still not free. I’m a member of another site that has no transaction fees yet still protects the members.
4. Sneak peak video game trailers
5. More community interaction (user reviews, recommendations…)

All the above are small tweaks to the system that is already very functional. The main reason someone would NOT want to use this system is time and money. If you have the dough you would just buy it new down the street? Why wait? The main draw to the site is how much money you can save and the community there. Save money and also connect with other gamers. If your very impatient then new release games will have to be purchased. I’ve experienced about 1-2 month turn around time for new games. Why? You are placed on a Que. The order of the Que determines when you get the new game, but more importantly is how many are available? Most people will play a new release for a certain amount of time before listing their games. The wait times do get long. Say you want to play a game that takes a long time to beat. You gotta factor in that a player like me would take over 1 month to beat a game like that. More popular games of course like Madden will hit the system quicker but that is also a bad thing. If you hold a game too long it will depreciate in value just like on the streets. Trading for early on might be for 1000 points but in a couple months with the market being saturated it could be 500 points in no time losing half of it’s value. Not Goozex’s fault but some games just don’t move well.

Current Goozex Simultaneous Transaction on the Network as of Mar 11, 2009 = 4793

The number one games console

October 18th, 2009

This is an argument that has been in debate not just for this generation of games consoles but since the beginning. Which console is the best this generation, Wii, 360 or PS3?

The Wii has sold very well that is without a doubt, but it really doesnt do much for me at all. The major let down is not the console but the games. The games are being made to a poor standard and to the general market. What happened to the fans Nintendo. Nintendo have also rather insultingly announced another Zelda DS game and Mario Galaxy 2 both of which seem to be almost complete copies of the previous edditions.

The PS3 is a good console. Blu-Ray is one of the reasons it has become such a success as well as the HD gaming and free online play. Free is not always a positive thing. The whole online experience is very poor on the PS3. The games available just for the PS3 are very poor to Microsoft’s Halo and Gears of War with Uncharted, Metal Gear and Resistance all being very poor games. The PS3 wand seems to be a bit off a rip off from the Wii as well.

The Xbox 360 has to be top of the list simply because of the overall experience that is received. The games never hardly ever recieve lag simply because you pay for the service. Live recieves many updates that actually do things. Project Natal is also on the way for the Xbox which hopefully will mean only one thing, domination of this generation. Microsoft seems to be focusing in on their fans rather than the market which is always a good thing.

What is the best games console out there.

October 18th, 2009

This is an argument that has been in debate not just for this generation of games consoles but since the beginning. Is the best consoel going to be Wii, 360 or PS3?

Although if you are going on the basis of sales the Wii is top of the market it just doesn’t seem to be doing it for me personally. it is the games that are the problem on the wii not the console. The games are being made to a poor standard and to the general market. This is not a bad idea but Nintendo don’t seem to be making any games for their fans anymore. Although there is the promised Mario Galaxy 2 and Legend of Zelda DS both seem to be complete copies of the previous game and this certainly is a first for Nintendo.

The PS3 is a good console. Blu-Ray is the only real reason this console has sold and the only reason I purchased it. the word free should not always be used in a positive way. The whole online experience is very poor on the PS3. Compared to Gears of War and Halo the PS3 exclusives are not brilliant. The PS3 wand does seem to rip off the Wii.

The Xbox 360 has to be top of the list simply because of the overall experience that is received. The games are a lot better and the online service (although paid for) never really recieves lag. Xbox Live seems to recieve many more updates that actually do things of importance. It is pretty much gurenteed that Natal will secure the sales the 360 needs to come out on top of Sony at least. Microsoft seems to be focusing in on their fans rather than the market which is always a good thing. They have also secured the rights to for the new Splinter Cell to be a 360 Exclusive which is going to be very nice indeed.

Guide To Fixing Your Xbox 360 Failure

September 19th, 2009

We all have a common fear in our daily lives; the potential breakdown of assorted machines we use. We just don’t want it to be occuring to us, especially if that machine is our favourite Xbox 360. However, you don’t need to panic even in the misfortune of an Xbox 360 failure. If one knows the cause then half your issues are dealt with. An Xbox 360 failure is a typical misfortune faced by many gamers all around the globe.

The Xbox 360 failure is usually revealed by red LED lights on the console itself. So how do you establish what blunder you have in your machine by looking at the lights?  The answer follows;

If it’s 2 red LEDs turning up on your console, then the possible cause for this Xbox 360 failure could be overheating of the motherboard.  The best solution to overcome this Xbox 360 failure is by closing down your machine for a period of time so that the motherboard can cool off.

If there’s 1 or 3 red lights showing up on your console then there’s sometimes some known hardware and software failures which ought to be sorted by fixing the console.

The most severe Xbox 360 failure that you can find is indicated by a red ring of light on your Xbox 360. This failure is something that belongs in the ‘fatal error’ category.  This typically happens because of an inner structural failing in your Xbox. This basically means the makers didn’t put a cooling mechanism of adequate size inside the console.  So overheating tends to bring down the game processing device and can lead to an Xbox 360 failure.

No call to panic, however, because a few simple precautions can make sure that the Xbox 360 doesn’t falter.

Since the majority of the mess ups spring from overheating it’s ideal to place your console in a spot where there is unobstructed flow of air, and no more heat-emitting sources in the vicinity. It might be difficult for avid gamers, but a sensible thing to practice could be to allow your console regular rest spells and avoid protracted continuous gaming sessions. That way you can also rest eyes and fingers and commence with a fresh determination all over again.

However, if you have come across an Xbox 360 failure you need not ship it off to Microsoft in a rush.  You can buy some repairing guides from the web, which might save everyone a heap of time and money. Be certain not to overpay for these and also attempt to choose one that has been tried and tested by others.  If you can access a good guide then you can be your own Xbox mechanic! If all else fails though, remember it’s your right to have a working machine- you paid for it after all- so don’t hesitate to contact Microsoft if you are in doubt.

So next time you encounter an Xbox 360 failure, you know the solutions!

Repairing a Xbox 360 on You’re Own to Save Money

September 4th, 2009

There are so many sources out there that you can use for directions on how to repair your Xbox 360. Taking the time to research it all the way through before doing it will be the key to your success. Repairing an Xbox 360 will not be all that difficult if you do the research and continue reading this article.

You should not be fooled into thinking a child could repair an Xbox 360; there is some basic tools and technical skills required for Xbox 360 repair. But you certainly do not need a degree in engineering to accomplish such a feat.

The first thing you are going to want to check before you open up your Xbox 360 is to make sure that you’re warranty isn’t expired. If you’re warranty is still valid, and you open up the box yourself, they will know and it will void the warranty. If you do have a warranty you are better off taking your machine into an expert and letting them fix any problems you might have with it. You have to be careful because there are many different causes such as (the red ring of death error) to having an Xbox 360 go bad on you, so you want to make sure if you are doing it on your own, that you are fixing the right thing.

Although it can be troubling to receive an error, it is uplifting to hear that only 6% of Xbox 360’s that receive the red ring of death error cannot be repaired. Therefore, your system has s good chance of Xbox 360 repair if you follow directions carefully. To get started, you are going to want to take a trip to your local hardware store to pick up a few items needed if you do not have them.

After purchasing the tools you need to fix the machine, jump online and find a legitimate guide that explains in detail the steps you will take to fix your system. Many guides that can be found online will also include tips and information on over heating consoles, graphic errors, and freeze ups. Within an hour you will have your gaming system back and ready to play on.

If you Xbox 360 is no longer under warranty, Microsoft will have no problem telling you that it will cost you upwards of $150 to repair it. When thinking about it on a larger scale that is quite a bit of money considering that you can by a rebuilt one for anywhere from $200-$250. If you can follow the simple instructions from the guide provided to you, then you will be able to save yourself quite a bit of money in repairs.

Play Xbox games on your 360 console

August 30th, 2009

One of the most basic problems with the ongoing improvements in gaming console technology is the issue of backwards compatibility. In the past, games from its predecessor would not be compatible with the latest version of the game console. Xbox360 games have this feature. There are ways so that you can play your Xbox games using the 360 console.

One way of allowing you to play both versions of the said games is via updating your game console through the Live system. However, it is required in this method that a high speed internet connection is present. The simple process of connecting your game unit to an available broadband connection will allow you to update your system. After connecting, all that you really have to do is to wait for the process to complete. Then, you can start playing your original Xbox360 games! By doing this, you remain updated about the latest addition to the games that are being supported by the system. Of course you will be needing a Live account, which can either be a Silver or the Gold membership.

Another method that would to allow you to play Xbox games on your 360 console is by CD or DVD burning. This is for those who do not have a high-speed internet connection. A simple dial-up connection would be adequate for the download to complete. Using this method, one could simply go to Xbox.com and download a copy of the game and burn it to a disc.

This is especially useful for people whose consoles are not connected to a broadband internet connection. It also adds that you could get a supported copy of the game some place else, where an internet connection and a CD or DVD burner is present. This saves you from the task of having to bring the whole game console just for the supported games. The process is nearly as simple as creating an audio cd. This should not prove to be too difficult even for beginners.

The last of the methods which would allow gamers to play Xbox360 games in a 360 console would be to order it directly from Xbox.com. However, this method would only be available by Early December to some people. But then again, it may seem as the best choice. The disc includes all the necessary updates needed by the system to enable it to have backwards compatibility. It will be updating the program for the backwards compatibility, which would of course also update the operating system for your game console.

I should say that this backwards compatibility feature is really ingenious. First of all, it saves gamers all that money that would either go to waste. Waste of money happens because they can’t use their old games or they buy new games. Although this feature only allows your Xbox360 and Xbox games to be played on the 360 console, it will definitely be a feature that would dictate future developments in the gaming industry.
