Are the Warcraft Pro’s Guides the Best?

So, you just started playing World of Warcraft,  or maybe you’ve  been playing for a few months or even a few years. If you have a little experience, you have probably tried to track down all of the games mechanics, to find the best possible build and gear, to keep track of the few spots you discovered through the many hours wasted wandering aimlessly in Azeroth…Alas, its complexity being what makes the game so unique, you’ve come to realize that you could never master all of it’s secrets by yourself. I bet most of you do not know enough about your own class. You may have notched up a few successes in PvP, but that because your opponents are as inexperienced about the basics as you are. Throw a bunch of beginners in a room and someone will come out on top…doesn’t mean they are the best!

Okay, I think i have made my point. I don’t want to alienate my partners in crime. However,  it does highlight the fact of how much help you need in your chosen class. So depending on your tactic, whether you’re PvP or raiding it’s safe to say you don’t have all the tools – the right gear, or the right talent spec. I stumbled across this little beauty I was looking up some information on playing as a Paladin. I have played many of the other classes like Hunter and Druid but decided to give Paladin a shot. However, I was really getting bored having to do all the research on the forums etc. As a bit of an old hand I wanted to enjoy the game rather than it being a chore. When I found Warcraft Pro I began to realise just how  much more other players knew and how little I had achieved. I was a bit embarrassed to say the least…

So, I bought the Paladin guide and started to read about what I should be doing. Of course, I knew the basics more or less, but I didn’t know the exact gear to be specing towards.  I then realised I didn’t know how to defeat a Druid in PvP!. I had only touched the tip of the iceburg and learned about rotating kills in PvP and backing up Tank in raids. The following World of Warcraft warlock guide will attempt to describe to you everything you’ll need to know to begin the warlock class. Warlocks are best known for their fire and shadow magic spells and particularly for their ability to summon and command demons. Casting unholy spells of pain and suffering are the warlock’s bread and butter. They are able to hurl potent spells from afar, but are not good at fighting up close since they do not have any substantial physical defensive protection. Many talents depend on the utilization of soul shards, which a warlock has to obtain from killing enemies. Warlocks are a breeze to level up in a hurry since they’re extremely self sufficient when playing solo. In groups, warlocks are often the biggest damage dealers.

Allowable races for warlocks are Blood Elves, Humans, Undead, Gnomes, and Orcs. Due to being a caster class, they’re only allowed to wear cloth armor. As far as weapons go, warlocks are limited to only using daggers, staves, swords and wands.

There are several demonic minions a warlock can summon including the Voidwalker, Succubus, Infernal, Imp, Felhunter, Felguard, and Doomguard. Each minion has it’s place with different pluses and minuses. Warlocks have a wide variety of magic spells at their command including DoT’s, direct damage spells (DD’s), and many utility spells. They are even able to conjure up various items and perform resurrections on fallen guild mates by using soul shards. Other skills include self healing via drain life, and CC (crowd control with fear. Since warlocks are able to get their mounts through quests, they save bucket loads of gold that most other characters have to spend.

Affliction talents are designed for enhancing drains, curses, and DoT’s. This spec is good for boss fights, raiding, and farming. It is arguably the best spec for leveling fast.

Demonology talents are focused on summoning more effective demons and enhancing your summoning and conjuration spells. Demonology is a great specialization for leveling, PvP, and general survivability. This talent spec can be used during lower levels to help make up for a lack of good spell damage equipment.

Destruction talents concentrate on improving most shadow and fire spells and making the warlock a powerful direct damage dealer. For Destruction, it’s all about the high damage per second (DPS) and big crits. This spec is not as effective as the others during the early levels. Note that this spec is not good for solo play. Also, it suffers from poor mana efficiency and has a heavy reliance on soul shards. However, it is very cool watching health bars go to zero at lightning speed.
