The Console Argument

January 28th, 2010

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. However from my opinion (a person who has owned all of the Nintendo Consoles) this has been the worse console that Nintendo have ever made. The question to ask is why?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. with Mario Kart on the Wii that just seemed to take out all of the things that made Double Dash A great game, it has sold because more kids will buy it. In all my time of playing Mario they have never used the same idea twice, what on earth is Mario Galaxy 2 all about?.

So as you can see the Wii is out of it.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. The online although it is free it is very poor and you always find yourself in a game with people unable to speak English. I still do not know why language filters are not in there? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

The 360 has the best games, the best experience when playing and a really good online community. Do not get a Wii as although it is said to be for the entire family, the kids and you will get bored quickly. 360 or a PS3 is the way forward.

To make sure these will not have to be replaced for some serious money, get game console insurance or gadget insurance. Of course you could also get some mobile phone insurance while you are at it.

Buy This Console

November 29th, 2009

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. This console has easily been their worst yet and this comes from someone who owns all of their previous entries. So why is this?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. Mario Kart Wii was at best disappointing as they seemed to take out everything that made Double Dash good. As well as this they are copying Mario Galaxy by adding in a few variations to levels in Mario Galaxy 2.

The Wii (in my opinion) is certainly out of it already.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. However, online, although free, is slow, poor and features many people who cannot even speak English within it. I do not understan why they did not add language filters? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

It would certainly seem that the Xbox 360 has the best online service, the best games and the bettter experience.

Goozex Hands On Review

November 13th, 2009

Where do gamers go?

The choices you have as a gamer are:

  1. Buy (Online, Ebay, used, Gamestop..)
  2. Rent (Gamefly, blockbuster…)
  3. Trade (Goozex, Switchplanet..)

Renting in the past at your brick and mortar rental place can easily set you back more then $5-$7 every week like Blockbuster. There have been other online rental game sites that charge a monthly fee like /month for one game out like Gamefly. Renting isn’t all together bad but playing videogames isn’t like watching movies. There is a considerable larger amount of time invested in videogames then in movies. Most movies range from 1.5 hours to epics of 6 hours. Where most videogames you could get a good feel for a game in 3 hours but most sports games and long role playing games could be played for more then 70 hours.

This is where Goozex steps in. Goozex allows the gamer to keep the game as long as you want but have the option to sell it too. There is only a $1 transaction fee if you request a game on their network. So basically you can trade in your older games and build up Goozex credit until you get enough for a newer title and just pay the $1 transaction fee. A shipping and handling is handled by sender and the buyer only pays . There is no monthly membership so you can stop at anytime or go at a slower pace. This is ideal in the sense that you could play the game until you are actually sick of it then send it in for credit. So you’re not rushed to get as many games played on the network because you can play at your own pace. Plus you OWN the game. From then on the game is yours, not a rental.

You only send games directly to the next member. There is no single central warehouse and the pricing of the credits of the system are in points (100pts = $5). The pricing of the game is determined by market demand, release date, initial cost of the game, and a couple other factors. Most xbox 360 titles will go for 800-1000 pts which translates to $40-$50. This isn’t bad for a used game. Some money can be saved buying used but there is still tax and travel time/cost. Goozex gives you free shipping to you with no tax charge. You also have an option to buy credits if you want but I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have no games to send in or nothing of yours is being requested. The game prices will fluctuate and you will see the price change in your history. I’ve had a couple games I requested and I can see that price increase/decrease. It doesn’t happen that much but some games change +/- 200pts depending on market demand.

So why use Goozex instead of a used videogame store or an auction site with games like Ebay? You just need $1 to pay for the transaction fee. Most people don’t like to continually shell out more money for a game and then feel like the games they bought are depreciating at a very fast rate. Selling your game for cash anywhere will not give you that much. Brick and mortar stores resell your games for a huge mark up. Selling online is tiresome. Goozex at least you get to trade in games you are done with and still get some value out of it as it will lead to other games you really want. There might be more difficulty in sending older sports titles as those don’t have much demand once their season is up like trying to sending in EA sports Madden 2005 will be a hard game to sell to someone on the network. Older games on ebay are a hassle to sell. On Goozex you will be able to list it and it will just stay there without having to pay insertion fees.

Each videogame is packed with information like reviews from Gamepro, some tips/trick, game description, and some even have instructions. I love being able to see the supply and demand of each game. This will let you know if you have a game people want or if you can possibly get a game on the network. Goozex determines who gets the game by matching up users. There is a waiting list that is generated and when you add a game you will see in what place you are waiting for that game. This is a fabulous idea as impatient gamers can tell if they should expect a game soon. You need to make a list for want and haves for your games. They will show you your place in line per game. Great place to build your wishlist. It is ideal to have a very large set of games you want now so you will have a very good chance of getting a game soon. I was requesting Crackdown for the Xbox 360 and I was 60th person in line. I got this game in 14 days. Just because you’re really deep in line doesn’t mean you won’t get the game soon. Newer games do get pushed out in the system fairly quickly. You have many options to what you want to trade in terms of instructions, case or just game. This is helpful as some gamers tend to lose instructions and/or cases. The value of the game doesn’t go down as the credits don’t reflect what is included. This is because the user requesting the game can have the option to request only full packaged games, games with instructions, or just the game itself. I have not had a problem with getting full packages as I’ve gotten over 49 games and I’ve sent out 54 in under 2 years of being there.

Why NOT to use

For this site to be a perfect 5 star site I would like to see:

1. More users (will there ever be enough?)
2. More old school games (nes, snes, saturn….)
3. is still not free. I’m a member of another site that has no transaction fees yet still protects the members.
4. Sneak peak video game trailers
5. More community interaction (user reviews, recommendations…)

All the above are small tweaks to the system that is already very functional. The main reason someone would NOT want to use this system is time and money. If you have the dough you would just buy it new down the street? Why wait? The main draw to the site is how much money you can save and the community there. Save money and also connect with other gamers. If your very impatient then new release games will have to be purchased. I’ve experienced about 1-2 month turn around time for new games. Why? You are placed on a Que. The order of the Que determines when you get the new game, but more importantly is how many are available? Most people will play a new release for a certain amount of time before listing their games. The wait times do get long. Say you want to play a game that takes a long time to beat. You gotta factor in that a player like me would take over 1 month to beat a game like that. More popular games of course like Madden will hit the system quicker but that is also a bad thing. If you hold a game too long it will depreciate in value just like on the streets. Trading for early on might be for 1000 points but in a couple months with the market being saturated it could be 500 points in no time losing half of it’s value. Not Goozex’s fault but some games just don’t move well.

Current Goozex Simultaneous Transaction on the Network as of Mar 11, 2009 = 4793

Wii Sports and the Best Games

November 9th, 2009

The Wii has become one of the best selling consoles ever. People who would have never even considered buying a Wii in the past, now flock to the shops to get a console. With a default console, there is one game which people forever play and that is Wii Sports. But let’s have a look at the more gratifying games on Wii sports and see the reasons for it.

Wii Tennis

Wii Tennis is probably my best game, simply because it gives the most action to you. Wii Tennis is a great game, but even more so when you play with someone else, simply because it does tend to get quite competitive as time goes by.

Wii Golf

If you are actually looking for a slightly more modest workout then Wii golf is probably one of the better choices. I am an avid golf player and the game, from the swing shots to the puts are exactly how you would expect them to be in a real life situation. The only thing missing is the gentle breeze that you get while walking along a lovely green.

Wii Bowling

My third choice would probably have to be bowling, this game is an absolute winner and although it has a few problems it is quite enjoyable when playing with a group of friends. Obviously it is not as good as going to an actual bowling alley, but I can tell you now that it is probably the next best thing.

Wii Baseball

In all likelihood my most disliked game in the whole package, I say this because it’s rather unresponsive when you play it and it can get rather bothersome when it boils down to it. There are also a few more games which just do not cut it in my opinion.

Speed Ahead With Our Mario Kart Wii Hints And Tips

September 27th, 2009

If you have tried multiplayer Mario Kart Wii over WiFi, then you’ll agree with us as we say that it is amongst the best online gaming experiences you will ever encounter in this lifetime.  The thrill of fighting opposite rival players and racing against them across several tracks is really out of this world.

Just how fun is a multiplayer game of Mario Kart Wii?

Imagine this : you are driving Mario’s fave go kart-style racer, and you’re trailing at second position on the last lap.  You’re gaining speed, and the person in pole place is in view.  You know you’ll be able to pip them on the following bend, as quick turn drifts are your skill.  The bend approaches,  you’re right at your rival’s tail.  You press on the gas and reverse simultaneously.  You spin the wheel and drift right past your rival.

This is the fun that may be found with a multiplayer game of Mario Kart Wii.  You won’t be competing against the computer AI.  You’ll be playing against real folks from different regions of the Earth.  They’re living, breathing, cognitive players who will respond accordingly to the situations encountered by each round.  This makes every game harder, and finally, more rewarding.

Do you aspire to become a more skilled Mario Kart Wii player?  Here are a collection of tips which will assist you improve your game:

– Practice the ‘rocket start.’ This is a staple of each and every Mario Kart game. Effectively pulling off the rocket start will give you an early advantage in the race.  To instigate the rocket start, press the gas button as quickly as the timer reaches down to 2.  You need to perfect your timing however, as being inaccurate for only a millisecond will downplay the technique.

– Collisions are best avoided.  As much as possible, avoid colliding with other racers as this will slow down your speed and it’ll take time before you build up to your top once more.  Rather than racing side-by-side with another player, try and trail them, so you’d know where they are.  Then overtake your opponent once your boost power is ready.  By doing this, you’ll be miles ahead of them and out of crashing range once the boost fades.

– Either find out how to drift or learn how to ease off the gas button.  The majority of players are just impatient.  They need to step on the gas at most times and run over each and every trap in a course, including walls on corners.  However, you will not be able to pull off most turns at high speed.  You will need to learn how to drift or relent with the gas command to slow you down a bit, enough to pull off the acute turns found in Mario Kart Wii.

Australia Not to Allow Sexy Poker Game

July 10th, 2009

Computer titles are becoming a lot more argued about lately, games have become a lot more aggresive and violent and its just something you dont want to let your kids play anymore.

But out of all the countries, Australia probably have one of the highest levels on censorship rules. They have previously rejected big name titles such as Fallout three and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin any classification, which really means that any sales of the game are made illegal until a correct licence can be put in place.

But the most recent controversy was when Australia decided to deny to give classification to a new WiiWare title called “Sexy Poker”, (WiiWare is a service that allows Wii users to download games and applications specifically designed and developed for the Wii video game console made by Nintendo) this was not because the game involved any sort of online poker, but simply because the game is just like strip poker.

As the games name suggest, Sexy Poker makes you play against numerous different females who are dressed up, the further you move on in the game the more the females will strip and become nude.

I can understand why Australia do not want to give any certification to this game, because if kids get hold of it then it can be a very tricky situation. Unlike the UK industry, Australia's highest certification level is MA15+. But a vast amount of people have been protesting to introduce a new certification label such as 18+.

It’s Easier Than You Mmight Think! Copy Wii Games

May 17th, 2009

Nintendo Wii is one of the most popular game consoles on the market, but the games are extremely expensive. And what happens if your game gets scratched or broken, you have buy another one right? Wrong! You can copy Wii games to have backup copies of all of your favorite games. It wil not only save you money, but also a lot of time and frustration.

You need three simple things to copy Wii games: a reliable fast working computer, a fast dual level DVD burner, and special game burning software.

You need to make sure you have the proper DVD drive because not all DVD drives will be able to copy games. You cannot just copy games using a regular DVD burner because of copyright protection. Software companies had developed programs to bypass copyright protection to allow you to make backup games.

To find a good game copy software, start a search on Google. You will also find a link to my game copy review site at the bottom of this article. You will find many great websites that offer copying software. Even if you are a tech geek you will be able to use the software, because it is straightforward. It runs similar to a regular CD burner program. Once it is installed on your computer, it is ready copy games. You simply load the game into the disc drive and let the system make an image of the disc. Then you load a blank disc and the image will be transferred onto it. With most programs you can make a perfect exact copy of Wii games. There is no way to tell the difference in the copy or original.

When you are looking for a game copying program to game copy Wii, make sure it is reliable. Also look for one that comes with a money back guarantee. This way you are covered just in case the software does not work on your computer of if you are not completely satisfied. You should always compare prices. Currently, no game copying software should cost more than $40. For this price you can get a great Wii game copy software you can start using immediately. Most websites also offer free updates for as long as you are a member.

If you have an Apple computer, make sure the program states that it is Mac compatible.

Many programs are also compatible with Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation, PS2, PS3, PSP, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Dreamcast, and GameBoy/GameBoy Advanced.

Another important aspect of copying Wii games is that with some websites you need a modchip to play the backup games. Mod chips are not expensive and can be found on many websites online. There are also some websites that were able to bypass the modchip.

With copying games for Wii, you can use the backup games regularly to keep your original in mint condition. Plus the price of the software is usually less than the price of one game. You will have the chance to make copies of all of your Wii games and will never have to replace one of them.

For a review of the best game copy software visit my lense at: How To Copy Games
