Nokia Announcement: 2 New Cell Phones To Be Launched Soon

December 15th, 2009

Nokia is soon going to have two new phones in its portfolio. I was reading this blog and came across the announcement of the launch of new cell phones in India. Nokia, today, announced the launch of two new mobile phones – N97 Mini and N900 in India. Each of the cell phone has its own impressive features. However, N900 seems to be a little more exciting.

A brief review of N97 -

Nokia N97 is a pretty looking and nicely designed cell phone. But that’s it. On a lot of other things N97 doesn’t really score high. The keypad on the phone is not all that comfortable to use. The tiny keys can cause a lot of trouble.

So that was N97 for you. And interestingly, N97 would be advertised more widely than N900. The reason for this remains unknown to me.

And now a quick peek into Nokia’s N900 -

This Nokia cell phone scores more than N97. Especially on the usability front. Unlike N97, the keypad is convenient and easy to use.

One common thing the two phones, N97 and N900, have is the spacebar located on the right of the phones. When asked about this to the senior design manager, Mr. Jonne Harju, he told that the study indicates it is easier for one to use left thumb to press the spacebar key.

That makes it clear, N900 should be prefered over N97, but how good it will do in the market also depends on the pricing of it. The prices of both the cell phones have not been released. Also, Nokia promises to come out with many such interesting launches in 2010. And that all the releases are going to be different from each other. Hopefully it keeps up with its promise and we get to more many more nice, unique, with better functionality and, of course, cost-effective cell phones.

Nokia To Allow Re-Downloading Of Purchaged Applications

November 26th, 2009

Cheer up, all Nokia users. Here is some great news; for all you guys; that I found on a blog when looking for some information on cell phone applications –Nokia’s re-download lost application option!

Bringing you the extracts directly from the blog post:

Have you lost or deleted any of your Nokia application due to some odd reason? You don’t have to worry anymore. Nokia now allow its users to re-download purchased applications, with the *only* provision that you are re-downloading onto the same device from where you had originally purchased the application. Below is a video demonstrating how it works.”
Many times users end up formatting the memory cards due to some kind of bug troubling their devices. This re-download option from the Ovi Store might be very useful and save some money too. But if you end up losing or damaging your old cell phone, you will end up paying to have all your previously-purchased apps downloaded for the new handset.

Those who are till now ignorant of Nokia’s Ovi store, here’s an update on that. Nokia had launched its Ovi store in a few countries early this year, with N97 as the first Nokia phone to have an integrated Ovi store. And Nokia soon had its Ovi stores in all the countries. For first time users, all you have to do is to refresh your download and find the Nokia Ovi store there.

Although the Nokia Ovi store came late, it managed to catch up with group of other application stores. And now with this refreshing Nokia application hitting the market, Nokia sure has some advantage to it. Having an application store is always a good way to keep the users happy by providing some useful and power applications.

Watch the video demonstrating how to download and use the Nokia application here.
