The Console Argument

January 28th, 2010

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. However from my opinion (a person who has owned all of the Nintendo Consoles) this has been the worse console that Nintendo have ever made. The question to ask is why?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. with Mario Kart on the Wii that just seemed to take out all of the things that made Double Dash A great game, it has sold because more kids will buy it. In all my time of playing Mario they have never used the same idea twice, what on earth is Mario Galaxy 2 all about?.

So as you can see the Wii is out of it.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. The online although it is free it is very poor and you always find yourself in a game with people unable to speak English. I still do not know why language filters are not in there? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

The 360 has the best games, the best experience when playing and a really good online community. Do not get a Wii as although it is said to be for the entire family, the kids and you will get bored quickly. 360 or a PS3 is the way forward.

To make sure these will not have to be replaced for some serious money, get game console insurance or gadget insurance. Of course you could also get some mobile phone insurance while you are at it.

Mini Cell Phone Generation

January 6th, 2010

Cell (mobile) phones have been on a serious diet since their conception well over a decade ago. They once resembled hard-back books, and now you can find phones smaller than a pack of chewing gum. However, as people began to demand more of their phones, such as wanting them to include cameras and MP3 players for example, phones started getting bigger again. Handsets such as the iphone and other ’smart’ phones did have improved styling, but are considerably larger than many of the previous generation handsets. That said, cell phones could soon be shrinking yet again.

As mobile Internet connectivity becomes increasing more widespread and the speeds continue to increase almost daily, there is a dwindling need to store all your applications and files on the phone itself. Instead of the phone hosting all the information, your games, files and applications can be fed in from somewhere else when required. Phones don’t have to be multi functional devices all the time then, they just have to show whichever information and do whichever job is being requested of them at any one time.

A central hub will be needed and this can be either be located in your home or with your service provider. On the central hub you will have all the software and individual files that you need for your phone to function and you will be able to access these using your handset at any time. You will still need a certain amount of hardware in the phone, such as a camera and other electrical components, but you will be able to save huge amounts of space where memory, processors and mini ac fans would normally be found. This means then that phones could be not much bigger than cable ties and you could even wear them as accessories such on a necklace or as a wrist-band. The phone would be liberated from its conventional state and could take any shape you desire.

Mobile Phones Abroad

December 5th, 2009

about taking your mobile phone with you? The first thing I would say is don’t even bother and the second is that if you are then make sure you have cheap mobile phone insurance.

Reasons

One of the main reasons that you should not be taking your mobile phone with you is because it just gets in the way of everything and does not need to be with you. If you are taking your mobile with you then you are going to call the people you miss because they are there in front of you. The thing is it is still going to be there when you get back so if you are really that desperate to use a phone just use a pay phone. It will certainly bee a lot cheaper than using your mobile to make the call.

Using the internet even by accident can actually get you into a lot of trouble as it will cost a lot of money to pay fpr. This is even more so for phones such as the iPhone as they will charge you a lot of money for using the internet even if it is just a mistake.

Although you could get gadget insurance for breakages abroad it will not cover you from the mistakes you can make from all of the browsing that can be done. If you are thinking about texting then expect a large sum of money to be taken each time you ty.

The main lesson to be learnt from this is just to leave the phone at home as it is just not worth all of the hassle. If you are going on holiday then make sure you look into car hire insurance because at least then if something happens you are covered.

Buy This Console

November 29th, 2009

Sales

If of course you are looking into sales (which I am not) then Wii comes out on top. This console has easily been their worst yet and this comes from someone who owns all of their previous entries. So why is this?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. Mario Kart Wii was at best disappointing as they seemed to take out everything that made Double Dash good. As well as this they are copying Mario Galaxy by adding in a few variations to levels in Mario Galaxy 2.

The Wii (in my opinion) is certainly out of it already.

Online and other

It cannot be said that the PS3 is a bad console with games such as Uncharted proving just how good the console can be. However, online, although free, is slow, poor and features many people who cannot even speak English within it. I do not understan why they did not add language filters? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

It would certainly seem that the Xbox 360 has the best online service, the best games and the bettter experience.

Some of the best iPhone Apps

November 29th, 2009

So here are just a few of the apps that the iPhone currently has that are pretty decent. Some of them are really very useful indeed whereas the others are just plain strange.

AroundMe

This is something that has become very useful to a lot of iPhone users as it will show you a lot of nearby things that could prove to be very useful to you. It can show you anything from nearby hotels to a hospital which of course is something that could be life saving in a troublesome situation. It can not only show you things of use but leisuire things to do like movie theatres and bars and clubs.

Fake Call

This is something that could be very useful for people who have to attend a lot of dull meetings in which they need an excuse to get out of. The great thing about this is that it stays on your mobile and will not use up any credit or minutes so you just need to to install it and your set. When you answer the call it will pop up to look like you are on a call to someone which is of course very nice for those meetings you need an excuse to get out of.

Red Laser

This app is useful for anyone who enjoys shopping round a bit to get the best prices. Seeing as there are not many people who do not want cheap deals then it is hard to see why everyone would not love this app. This is really great as it allows you to scan almost any barcode and compare it. I have found that with this it is best to keep it to the entertainment things such as games and music as you can really see some price drops.

Of course this is not going to help you if you drop the phone which is when you are going to need mobile phone insurance or perhaps even gadget insurance as this will cover you from other things too. On all of this you could be looking into getting insurance on another gadget which is of course where you could get Sat Nav insurance

Samsung’s Blue Earth

November 5th, 2009

I may not be an environmentalist but when I came across this particular post; I sure was pleased to see some effort being put to protect the environment. Yes, of late human activities have posed a threat to our environment which in turn is a threat to existence of mankind. Margaret Mead, the famous anthropologist, rightly said – We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment.

Few who do not know, Cadmium and Lead in mobile phones can cause grave problems to our environment. Also, the high use of mobiles is adding to global warming.  Well, the environmentalists will be glad to know that Samsung is soon going to bring out an eco-friendly mobile handset that is built out of non-toxic materials. In fact, the novel Samsung cell phone is made of waste plastic after recycling these harmful plastic discarded as garbage.

‘Blue Earth’, which is the name of this eco-friendly phone, is supposed to first come out in the market in Sweden somewhere by the end of this month of October, 2009.  The rest of the world will see the Blue Earth sometime after its introduction in Sweden. Samsung’s environment friendly mobile handset is made of non-toxic materials. In fact, the phone is a consequence of recycled waste plastic. Read here all the details about the look, features and several unique eco-friendly applications of the Samsung Blue Earth.

A lot is being talked and discussed about measures the world has to take to prevent the degradation of environment and as an effort to keep the environment healthy and free of toxin, Samsung has indeed taken a step in the from of its new phone ‘Blue Earth’.  In this severe situation where mankind is confronted with a terrible peril of degrading environment, making use of the plastic that we throw away in the bin into a harmless, Samsung’s eco-friendly cell phone, although with only basic features, is laudable.

Will the Networks Block Skype

August 26th, 2009

Over 10 years ago mobile phones were as big as a shoe and only had the technical ability for the owner to enter phone numbers and make calls. If we now move forwards to the current day and age, we are seeing phones be released that have a selection of awesome features.

But most probably one of the largest innovations is the creation of internet access, accessing the web through your phone is just the same as doing it on your home computer. And this in fact is causing the main mobile providers a big headache. We all know for years that service providers have been making their money by over charging customers huge amounts for calls and text messages.

But as internet access on mobiles phones grow so do access to free wifi spots, so this could potentially wipe out all of the mobile phone networks, because what is happening is that people are connecting to the internet and accessing Skype, which gives you the ability to have free calls between Skype users. Most of the UK providers have already banned VoIP access, but Nokia’s recent release of their N97 come’s pre installed with Skype giving users the ability to easily access the service.

The networks should not be blocking things like this, in my view, as it just makes them look ridiculous. We are currently in the midst of a huge credit crunch; people want to be able to find ways to save money. I truly believe that the number one reason the network three has grown is because they offer their customers the freedom choice. If the networks want to stay in business then they need to get together and find a way to partner up with services such as Skype for example, this way they could share revenue, but blocking is definitely not the way forwards.

Has Skype Become a Problem for Networks?

March 3rd, 2009

Over 10 years ago mobile phones were as big as a shoe and only had the technical ability for the owner to enter phone numbers and make calls.  Fast forward to the current day and age and we are seeing phones being released that have a variety of crazy features including cameras, games and WAP.

But probably the biggest innovation is the creation of internet access; you can now access the internet just as you would do on a computer. And this is causing network providers a huge headache.

The networks should not be blocking things like this, in my opinion, as it just makes them look bad. We are currently in the midst of a huge credit crunch; people want to be able to find ways to save money. I believe that’s why the Network three has expanded so much, simply because they give customers the freedom choice. If the networks want to stay in business then they need to get together and find a way to partner up with services such as Skype for example, this way they could share revenue, but blocking is definitely not the way forwards.

The Advancement of Modern Technology with Mobile Phones

February 14th, 2009

Gadgets are excellent. They make people’s lives that little bit easier and allow us to get through things much easier. They are central to all of our lives and we can take them everywhere. On holiday or event to the local shops, as well as playing a significant role at work. The functionality of gadgets such as iphones or laptops allows us to stay connected with our friends and family, almost anywhere.

So what gadgets feature most in people’s lives? I would argue the most common gadget that we rely heavily upon nowadays is the mobile phone. In fact so many people have said they actually feel naked without it. We depend upon mobile phones for a number of different things and the price of them has dropped considerably over the last few years with pay as you go phones almost being given away by retailers.

As the mobile phone is the most commonly used gadget, what do people actually use them for? This has so many answers that it would take pages and pages to get near to answering. One particular benefit of the mobile phone has been the fact that they allow us an element of safety in that they provide us with a constant line of communication between us and our loved ones.

Mobiles have, in the past, saved a person’s life. I remember reading an article on a tourist who had got lost on an expedition, but had subsequently managed to ring their friends. Their friends had then contacted the local police, who initiated a search for them. Without the mobile, it is difficult to understand how they would have survived, being lost in the jungle, and indeed their lives were saved.

As I previously discussed the mobile is a central feature of the business community. In fact they are so integrated into the business world that I often ponder, how business coped before they were around. From police officers who use it to report in accident, to lorry drivers who need them to call their base, mobiles are a gadget that is featured throughout the business sector.

Mobile phones, as a gadget, can also be somewhat restrictive to some people. Historically, many workers were able to enjoy their weekends with few interruptions. This then enable people to relax and unwind and to recoup ready for the next busy working week ahead.

As employees often take their work phones home with them, it can be hard to escape the pleasures of work as staff can so easily be contacted by their employers. Although the weekend used to be a time of happiness and relaxation away from the workplace, the mobile phone ringing can be somewhat of an issue, especially so if it is your boss at the other end of the phone.

The latest laptops information can be found throughout the internet. Notebook Laptops and Gadgets news and technonlogy articles are all areas of research worth considering as laptops and gadgets are developing all the time and

The gadget development of the last decade.

February 13th, 2009

Gadgets are everywhere in today’s society. In comparison, if you consider as early as 10 years ago the amount of gadgets in people’s homes was significantly less. It is hard to imagine just how people manage to cope in this day and age without the many gadgets that are available. Clearly, as time has progressed the availability of them has increased significantly.

So what are the examples of gadgets that we now have access to? Well, the main ‘gadget’ that many of us use is the mobile phone. We use this without thinking now and it is considered and essential tool that we carry with us everywhere we go. Many people actually feel naked without their trusty mobile phone and are heavily dependent upon it for work and home life.

At home, the most common gadget that some people have is the MP3 player, and this was not in existence as little as 10 years ago. With MP3 players we can store all of our favourite tunes and songs and subsequently listen to hours and hours of high quality music; indeed, the sound of the mp3 player is as good as, if not better than the traditional CD system.

I remember as a small child getting a cassette walkman for a birthday present and being overjoyed. This clunky, large metal box had bright red headphones and large clunky buttons. I had never felt so much pride as the day that I walked into school with my cassette recorder. Modern day mp3 players are so small in comparison and yet the sound quality is much better than my old cassette player. I would not have ever thought of insuring my old casette, but insurance for expensive gadgets is becomming more common, and this type of gadget insurance can be purchased from companies that provide computer insurance.

Mp3 players have developed over the last 10 years amazingly as well. My first mp3 player I owned was actually quite big; however it did last for many years and the sound n it was good. You can now but fully waterproof mp3 players. Not just splash resistant, but fully sealed swimming mp3 players that allow you to break the boredom of swimming length after length.

Another gadget that is becoming more frequent amongst gadget owners is the iphone. I actually own the latest iphone and I do find it hard to think how I coped before. With it I am able to check my emails wherever I go and this can be good for business when I am returning emails to customers. When I first go into computers 10 years ago I would have been amazed that my phone had the same power as my computer back then.

A large amount if people are heavily reliant upon gadgets and have them all over their home an indeed on their person. Even though over the last 10 years there has been lots of development, over the next 10 years I would argue there will be more development to such an extent that we will recollect with amusement the technology we now consider to be cutting edge.

As the risk of damaging portable gadgets is high, gadget insurance would provide protection accordingly. Many specialist pc insurance specialists offer this type of insurance cover.
