The world wide web is a still evolving community, home to everything from exciting new recipes to hilarious videos to books that are no longer in print. In recent years, as the Web 2.0 revolution shifted the focus of the content online from websites to individual users, the amount and variety of data and entertainment available has exploded. Unfortunately, while the nature of the internet permits for the mass dissemination of pretty much anything, it also means that a considerable amount of what’s available might not be appropriate for children (or in some cases, anyone at all).

Protecting children from the hazards of dangerous and adult material online has been a great challenge for parents and schools since the internet became a part of daily life for the majority of Americans. Some may feel in their frustration that the easiest solution is to simply keep children off the internet entirely, but research has shown that keeping kids offline can stunt their development in the information age.

The internet is an indespensible resource for the near instant transfer of information, and being able to navigate it effectively is an indispensable skill in the modern world. Students can benefit greatly from the educational material online too, so it is understood that some type of compromise must be made to allow children some access to the internet. Web filters are the most common tools that parents and schools utilize to attempt to permit children online without giving them access to absolutely everything on the web.

The balance that any web filter must create between permitting some but not all content in is a complicated one, and some services are criticized for either blocking legitimate content or allowing objectionable content through. Some filters even suffer from both problems simultaneously. Even worse, a percentage of filters can easily be completely undermined by inquisitive teenagers with hardly any technical skill.

Google, being the single most popular search engine on the planet, is the first stop for many web users and especially most of the younger users. There’s plenty of safe content out there for children to access, and Google has always offered its own filter for search results, which has been very successful. Unfortunately these settings could easily be altered by any user, including the ones who should{n’t not} be accessing unfiltered results in the first place.

Now, Google has launched a new improvement that allows users to lock the SafeSearch option with a password to prevent minors from altering the settings. The results subsequently generated by Google’s search engine while these SafeSearch settings are in place will also be visibly different from the normal search results, with a large image of colored balls in the upper right corner letting parents and teachers know even from across the room that the filter is still working.

There’s more than one way to keep kids safe online, and the best decision is to combine several layers of protection. Google’s new SafeSearch is a effective tool to help keep offensive material away from children, but it’s no replacement for active involvement with children while they are using the internet and education about the dangers that lie in the unpleasant places on the web.

Looking for shooting, dress up or even board games and puzzles but don’t know where to find? There are many places to find free online games around the internet, the only problem is the good ones cost money, and the cheap ones are very low in graphics and quality.
well, a question rises – Where can we find a really decent online site with quality flash games without spending any money.
Well, the logic thing to do is opening our favorite Internet search provider and click the word “free games”, after that we will find lots of results that could fit our description.
Usually the first results are the best, but sometimes you can find real gems at lower pages.
Now that we have many results, how can we sort out the top notch free online games sites?
The answer is simple if you follow a few easy rules.
Firstly look at the site looks, the bigger and more professional sites have better appearance and you can easily decide which site is professional and which is amateur.
The second parameter you should judge is the categories, professional sites have bigger amount of categories- at least seven.
Categories make your life easier when browsing games according to a favorite style, if you like action, racing, dress up , puzzle or any other genre, the more categories you have , you will have an easier time when browsing for games.
Another important category that bigger sites offer is a download games section, this feature is becoming very popular lately, and some sites offer nice quality games that you can download to your computer totally free.
Another interesting genre that is widely available in high quality online games sites is puzzle and board games or in their more popular name- Brain games.
This genre approaches the older part of the online gamers, even though lots of kids enjoy playing these brain teasers as long they are wrapped in a nice package ( a nice example to this is Civiballs, a great puzzle game with excellent graphics).
So, whether you old or young, boy or girl, it doesn’t really matter, find your favorite online games site and start enjoying the fun part of the internet.

It’s a well known fact that free games is one of the growing trends on the web as more and more sites and content is spreading all around the web.
Online games are available in all genres and categories- Action, racing, puzzle, board and of course dress up and girls games.
While action and racing games were long before the rise of the online games, dress up is a niche that appeared with the development of the online games sites. While girls in the older times played with actual dolls and figures, like Barbie and other brands, the girls of the online world have the option or playing with all their favorite characters like Spongebob, Bratz, Barbie and of course Hannah Montana games.
Not very long ago Miley Cyrus was just a regular girl with a talent, but today she, or should I say Hannah Montana, is one of hottest and most famous characters in the world.
“Hannah Montana is really an in-the-zeitgeist kind of thing,” says Paul Yanover, executive vice president of Disney Online, no doubt that Disney owners are very happy of their teen mega star. So why do you think Hannah is so famous around the globe? No one can really pinpoint the exact reason, but we do know that Miley is a good singer and actor that appeared to be at the right place at the right time! As you all know Miley Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus which means that show business is not something new in her life.
All around the globe, from the US through Asia and all the way to Australia, Hannah is one of the bestloved teen pop star in the kids world.
And like every growing trend online game developers were keen to release many games and content with Hannah’s character.
When analyzing online games and Hannah Montana while using Google tools, we can clearly see those are trends on the rise, which implies the rising popularity of those two.
So, whether you like free online games or not, this niche, together with online cooking games, is no doubt something you can’t pass over, the web is always on the rise so join the trend if you want to be on top of things.

All kids love cartoons, and my cute, adorable, and sweet little kids are no exceptions. I must admit I love cartoons, too. Even if we have different tastes, we spend most of our evenings watching cartoons. They love “The PowerPuff Girls”, while I’m crazy about “Dexter’s Laboratory”, so we might argue sometimes, but all arguments end with a kiss and a new cartoon.

I have tried to share with them my all-time passion for Disney cartoons, but after a few attempts I had to give it up. They fancy watching Cartoon Network more than watching Sleeping Beauty, so they convinced me to watch TV with them, even if I’m still in love with my classic Disney cartoons.

Any time we go on holidays, the long journeys make them whine that they are bored, and they miss their cartoons, so they have asked me to buy them some player on which they could load their favorite episodes. First, I didn’t agree, but they kept on pleading and begging until I promised them I would get them an mp3 player with video capabilities.

I have come across the sansa view 8gb , which seems just perfect. Any child could easily use it, so I bought two, one for each girl, so that they wouldn’t fight on them. I loaded them up with their favorite cartoons, wrapped them, and made a beautiful surprise to my kids. Their happy dance when they opened the boxes and saw their new players was worth seeing!

Now, they take their new “toys” everywhere with them. They have learnt quite easily how to load cartoons and music on their players, and they watch them on every trip, and even on breaks, at school. And I can watch my beloved Disney movies without any arguments, any time I want.

Elves, dwarfs and other magical creatures. Sounds like another Hollywood fantasy mega hit. So how would you feel if you can take part in that movie? Sounds impossible? not anymore, thanks to the wide variety of MMORPG games in the internet today.

Since the rise of World Of Warcraft, the king of MMORPG games , it looks like we are surrounded by MMORPG free games from every corner. it seems you can play MMORPG games at every site. It began with the standard fantasy genre with monsters and warriors but now you can find them in every style. As explained before, it seems you have those games in every possible genre, you can as a Gladiator ( Gladius 2 and Gladiatus ), a vampire or werewolf ( Bitefight ) an island colonizer or a pirate ( Ikarium and SeaFight ) and even a ruthless mobster! ( Mafia 1930).

The big disadvantage of World Of Warcraft , is it’s high costly payment method. While it’s considered as the best MMORPG game around, it’s price is a problem compared to the other free games around, which usually demand payment only for equipment and game upgrades , and in mostly be less expensive then World Of Warcraft.

So, how do we make the right decision? Well, the answer lies in finding the perfect free online games site that contains all the available hit games with enough data that will aid us in the choice of the correct game.

The high quality games sites feature a wide MMORPG section with all the hottest games, but don’t forget to examine and see if they have enough relevant data like content and screen shots that will help you pick the right choice.

When examining the MMORPG section, you must make sure the site contains enough data about each game- Game’s name, short description and a general picture, also when clicking a game should have more data available, like a longer description, more screenshots, and, of course, ratings and comments from users that actually played the game. Some sites even offer free download games for their users which is considered a really attractive bonus.
So, please invest some effort when looking for a good mmorpg games site, it might help you finding a good leisure time entertainment for a very low price.

Our parents had a different set of problem. When we were young and we were playing outside of the house, they were most likely worried that we could get hurt while playing, either scrape our knees or get sprained or they were worried that a stranger might talk to us and we will reply. Those are all things that our parents would be forced deal with back in the day. Now that we are parents ourselves, on top of these run of the mill problems, we now face additional worries whenever our children play online games. Playing games online leads to two major concerns that todays parents should be aware of. One is that some online games, since they offer anonymity, can be accessed by pedophiles and can talk to your child. Second is that griefers, also known as cyber bullies, can target and can make your chilled extremely miserable.

Playing video games online brings on the almost necessity of allowing people to talk to each other via chat. Mainly in strategy or barter based games talking is a huge part of the gameplay, but often talk spills over into the personal sphere. Stick to the basics before you go out and find your kids street fighter 4

To ensure your childrens safety online here are a few basic tips that I would suggest implementing in your house to protect them from grifers and pedophiles alike, just do these before you go and find halo wars or some other games:

1. Make sure your child understands – When your implement rules and boundaries on online gameplay be sure to let them know the purpose. Explain that its not that you do not trust him, its just that you are not very trusting when it comes to other people.

2. Relocate the computer – Make sure that the computer is in the kitchen or the living room area. This will ensure that you can check up on the gaming activities of your child once in a while. Also, if the computer is in a well trafficked area, your child will also be able to interact with people in the real world.

3. Educate – Ensure your kids know that there is information they can never share with anyone online:
a. True name
b. Contact details like address and phone number
c. State
d. Passcodes
e. Social security numbers

4. Make sure that they use a pseudonym as a log in ID.

5. Ignore – Don’t talk to strangers or bullies on the net, just like the real world. Strangers like this are looking for easy prey, if you just don’t respond they will go away after a few seconds.

6. Keep above those below you – Tell your child that if a griefer is very persistent to never attack him the way they tried to attack your child. Things only get harder as you reply.

7. Ask for help – Tell your child that when in doubt, when they do not know what to do and when they are scared, to ask help from you. Tell them that even if you are busy, even if you are not even at home, that they can call you up in the office or in your cell phone to ask help or to let you know what scared them.

Follow these tips before you allow your kids to go on the net and play games once you’ve gotten them used resident evil 5

All my kids talk about getting every year for Christmas is video games if they don’t go downstairs and find Gears of War 2 under our new flocked christmas tree I do not know how they will survive. It makes me a little nuts since I do all I can to get my kids outdoors. I would prefer to get them something like new football equipment or bikes, really anything they can do outside. Alas, I suppose boys will be boys. Fighting with them is just too much work.

That being said I’ve tried to find some tricks for my family and video games. I do a couple of things in an effort to force them outside. The first way I try to accomplish my goal is by limiting time that can be spent in front of them television to only one hour per day. I have discovered that limiting the time is key to everything else because then they know time above and beyond that is to be earned. I do give them some ways to earn more time in front of the television. That leads me into my second trick. They have a few options to earn more television time, either playing outside or doing some chores for me. The chores is nice for me and generally has a pretty good payoff for them. I set it up so it ends with one hour of chores earning one hour of television time.

The number two way they get more television time is by spending some of their time outside. For every hour they spend outside they get fifteen minutes of video games. Like I say this isn’t a huge payoff, but I also don’t really think asking them to be outside is a huge thing to ask. That option works the best of their long Saturdays where they spend the majority of the day outside anyway. They can play outdoors for the day on Saturday and then spend the night playing video games. Realistically a night of playing games and watching movies isn’t so bad after a full day outside.

That being said I’m ok with one or two ending up under flocked christmas tree this year , that is if it allows for the positives of getting the boys outside and making them a little more obedient. I hope they like their games, because I am going to like my “gift” of a little more control around the house.
