Looking for an Online Science Degree?

July 5th, 2009

While many people realize that you can get educations in subjects like computer science which naturally lend themselves to an online learning platform, they don’t realize that the potential also exists to study other courses and programs and attain degrees online which are unrelated to computers. For instance, you can obtain an online science degree from many accredited institutions online. This provides a new flexibility for obtaining education that will make higher education available to many more people than before had access to it, surely fitting in with the new, more educated vision of our country that has been outlined in the Obama Education Plan.

Getting an online science degree could be helpful in and of itself to your career. Having a degree in geology, chemistry, or physics, is going to open up a wide arena of employment opportunities that would never have been exposed to you before. On the other hand, getting a science degree can also serve as the prerequisite for getting more advanced education directly at a university or college, such as applying for med school. These types of degrees are good both as gateway degrees and in and of themselves, making them an excellent choice for someone looking to improve their employability but without a 100% clear vision of what they want to be doing ten years from now.

Of course, if science isn’t really your thing, don’t worry; there are lots of other degrees online that you can obtain other than an online science degree. The option to complete an online management degree is one that appeals to many people because of its applicability in so many different industries. It doesn’t really matter what specific industry you work in, because all industries and sectors have a need for managers within their companies, so by getting a degree in management you equip yourself well to work in almost any industry that you have sufficient interest in. This is of course a bit more flexible than an online science degree, which would be more suitable for someone who has a demonstrated interest in those sciences.

Management is a better option for someone who is looking to increase their potential earnings and who craves responsibility but might not have any specific industry or focus which interests them all that greatly.  Either way, you should remember that any degree will increase your earning potential and prospects for getting promoted further on down the road.

Who Would Imagine That a PHD could be Obtained Online?

May 31st, 2009

Society has been pressed with a real need for qualified professionals in the area of psychology. For anyone interested in stepping up and helping to fill this need, but can’t attend classes due to restrictions from work and home responsibilities, then an online PHD psychology course could be just the answer for you. You can take your studies online, and get your degree, while still maintaining access to your home duties.

The PHD in psychology can offer you five categories of specialization. One is ‘Gender Studies’, which gives you a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and biological basis of sexuality and the masculine and feminine side of things. Then there’s General Psychology, along with Health and Behavioral Medicine, then Industrial or Organizational Psychology, and finally Marriage and Family Therapy. All are good for contributing to the bettering of society.

The need gets greater all the time, as the pressures and stress of everyday keeping up with life takes its toll on society. There are other areas of PHD programs that can give you the skills to make a difference, like online PHD education programs. These programs can equip you to become a real contributor to some of society’s ills, and you can obtain these skills all from the privacy of your home. Here you can go for a career in higher education or corporate training.

With online PHD Degrees you can align yourself with, and compete with, others who took the route of attending the schools physically. It will take discipline, and it’s not a bad idea to find someone to maybe be a mentor, because one thing you won’t be able to do is interact with the instructors as much as you would if you were actually at a school.

A couple of things to know are these – be sure the online school is accredited. If it’s not, you’ll understand why it should have been when you look for work. A school that isn’t accredited carries far less respect than one that is. Also know that if you do graduate from an accredited school, the fact that you did it online no longer causes you the discrimination it did in years past.

So if it’s a PHD you want, and online is the way that best suits your situation, then feel good about it and go for it with confidence. The Internet age is here and people all over are taking advantage of its benefits. Education is one of its biggest.
