Get Your Computers Speed Back

September 18th, 2009

I recently spent a lot of time researching what was required to build a new computer from scratch. Why would I do this you may wonder? Well the primary reason for me beginning my research was because I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the fact every computer I buy seems to run incredibly well when I first buy it and then slowly decline over the time I own it until I become so frustrated with it I either bin it or pass it on to more patient people. The idea behind this was that if I built the computer from scratch it would be a lot easier for me to upgrade it when it went through the slow down all my computer seem to. I began this task by buying a couple of books on PC construction and some magazines with reviews of PC component in. I read fast so I started to get through the literature at a quick pace. This allowed me to quickly develop a sound understanding of how computers work and what makes them quick and slow. I had started to mentally decide the spec of my the new PC I was going to build when I noticed the last chapter of one of the books I had bought was all about how to make existing computers run better, i decided to read it.

I was surprised by some of the ideas suggested in there but before I get to the more surprising points let me take you through some of the more routine stuff. Point one, defragment your hard rive this is very simple but you may have to wait a while for your computer to do it. Second point, uninstall software which runs on your computer that you do not need. Now on to the more surprising points the first of which concerns the background image you use on your desktop if you pick something simple it apparently makes your computer run quick, by simple I mean with less colours. The last point and the point that really made my PC Faster is that of repairing windows registry errors. When you fix windows registry errors you are likely to see a big performance improvement , I did.

How To Fix A Slow Computer

July 27th, 2009

If your computer speed has slowed down considerably over the past few months it can become very frustrating getting anything done. Twiddling your thumbs, waiting for a program to run or a file to open on your computer can be pretty frustrating and leads to lose of focus and reduction of productivity. Unfortunately it is inevitable that your computer’s speed will slow down with time. Check out this slow computer fix that can help get the speed back and stop driving you to distraction.

Most computers gradually get slower and in this way they are just like anything that ages. Over time they fill up with data. The data gets amended and deleted. New data is added. Some files are contaminated with viruses and adware. And so the process goes on gradually filling your computer memory up with useful stuff and plenty of junk too. Your once brand, spanking new computer starts to look like a digital car junkyard with rusty old car doors, flat tires and bent crankshafts littered all over the place.

So the key to getting the speed back is to have a big clear out. A spring clean you could say. However since your computer probably gets used everyday you need to clean up the innards of your computer (software etc.) more than once a year. More like once a month or quarter.

You can do much of this cleaning yourself. Getting rid of programs that you never use can make a big difference to your computers performance, especially if they start up automatically. Every month or so, un-install programs that you don’t use. Spring clean the desktop if it is becoming cluttered.

If you use a Windows operating system then it is advisable to clean the registry database too. This is a file that the computer’s operating system accesses to find the locations of various files, programs and settings within the memory. This will also become corrupted with time as the computer gets older. If it gives the processor poor information then it is almost ineviatable that the computer will get slow or even freeze or crash.

You can clean the registry manually but this is not the best use of your time when software can be used that can do the same job that could take you hours in a few minutes.

Getting the most out of your computer by giving it a tune up

April 26th, 2009

My computer had been under performing for a while and I was thinking of getting a new one. I looking through the usual computer sites like Dell and PC World and they had some really good offers on. The thing that did strike me though was that the specification on the new computers was not so very different from that of my current computer and in order to upgrade it significantly it would cost me a lot of money. Once this had set in a decided I needed to take a diffrent course of action and repair my exisitng computer.

I began my research on how to make the computer run faster online. I searched for "fix my slow computer" on MSN and it brougt up a lot of results, most of these results where software programes which might be useful but first I wanted to find an unbiased guide to what could be done. I eventually located this a few pages down the search results.

The guide began with a few simple steps such as removing unused items from the desktop and getting rid of programs such as I tunes which run as soon as you load the computer up. This did cause the computer to load much quicker but did not make much diffrence to the overall speed.

he guide began with a few simple steps such as removing unused items from the desktop and getting rid of programs such as I tunes which run as soon as you load the computer up. This did make the computer load faster but didn’t really change the overall running speed of it. After this the guide I read said I should defrag my hard disc. This took a fair while to do but dint involve me doing much bar seeting it running. After I had defraged the hard drive I did notice an improvement in performance but I still felt that I could get more out of the computer so I went on to the next step, The next step was to repair any windows registry errors on the computer. These errors make your computer run slow. Fixing them involved getting a free scan and then once the errors have been identified paying a small amount of money to get them fixed. Fixing the errors made a massive diffrence although I wouldnt say it made my computer as good as new.

How I was able to fix my slow computer

March 21st, 2009

I am guessing that the problem of a slow computer is what which an awful lot of people have suffered from so I have written this account of how I was able to fix my computer in order to help other people. So to begin with lets take a look at what was actually going wrong with it. Well over the years the performance of my computer had dropped off slowly but significantly. The computer took a lot longer to boot up now than it had done and program's now crashed a lot showing the message "this program is not responding".

I had of course thought about replacing the computer but this seemed to me like an expensive option epically as I was not trying to do anything which the computer had not been capable of in the past. So I began to search the Internet for a solution and I came across www.fix-this-computer.com a web site offering advice on getting the most out of your computer. I took a good look around the site and tried the virus checker and the spy ware checker. None of the sans found anything then I noticed the section on the windows registry. From reading the text I could tell that the symptoms that were described were the same as mine so I decided I had windows regsitry errors. I clicked on the link for a free scan and was redirecting to a software site where I was able to download some software which scanned my computer for registry errors. The software identified an incredible 307 errors which took around twenty minutes. I decided to buy the software to fix these errors and when i did this i was given a password to upgrade my trial version to the full version. Once I had done this running the software was very simple and it began fixing the errors within a couple of clicks. It took around ten minutes to repair all the errors and since then the computer has been running like a dream.
