Get Your Computers Speed Back

September 18th, 2009

I recently spent a lot of time researching what was required to build a new computer from scratch. Why would I do this you may wonder? Well the primary reason for me beginning my research was because I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the fact every computer I buy seems to run incredibly well when I first buy it and then slowly decline over the time I own it until I become so frustrated with it I either bin it or pass it on to more patient people. The idea behind this was that if I built the computer from scratch it would be a lot easier for me to upgrade it when it went through the slow down all my computer seem to. I began this task by buying a couple of books on PC construction and some magazines with reviews of PC component in. I read fast so I started to get through the literature at a quick pace. This allowed me to quickly develop a sound understanding of how computers work and what makes them quick and slow. I had started to mentally decide the spec of my the new PC I was going to build when I noticed the last chapter of one of the books I had bought was all about how to make existing computers run better, i decided to read it.

I was surprised by some of the ideas suggested in there but before I get to the more surprising points let me take you through some of the more routine stuff. Point one, defragment your hard rive this is very simple but you may have to wait a while for your computer to do it. Second point, uninstall software which runs on your computer that you do not need. Now on to the more surprising points the first of which concerns the background image you use on your desktop if you pick something simple it apparently makes your computer run quick, by simple I mean with less colours. The last point and the point that really made my PC Faster is that of repairing windows registry errors. When you fix windows registry errors you are likely to see a big performance improvement , I did.

How A Registry Cleaner For XP Works

August 26th, 2009

The registry file on your Windows computer stores all the important information regarding your software and hardware configurations as well as all the system settings you’ve chosen for your PC. The registry is there to aid in maintaining the system’s smooth operation, though it can only do its job properly if it is kept up to date and error free. You can maintain your Windows XP registry file by using a reputable registry cleaner for XP.

The registry is designed to log all the changes ever made to the system at any time. Everything from software installations or removals, to component configurations and hardware additions are recorded in the Windows registry file as they happen.

Over time, your registry will have logged so much information that it begins to pile up. Outdated information clogs the registry file and slows down the PC. A seriously clogged registry can actually cause your PC to fail and crash frequently. A registry cleaner can remove all the obsolete entries in order to correct errors and free up space for new entries.

When you are ready to download a registry cleaner from one of numerous online resources, make sure the cleaner you download is made for your operating system since every operating system’s registry file works slightly differently than all the others. So if you’re running Windows XP, download a registry cleaner that is made to be used for XP.

The way a registry cleaner works is it scans your entire registry file for problematic things like blank spaces, old entries, fragments, and keys that have been embedded by any malware programs. The registry will remove all of these items permanently.

Two more features of registry cleaning tools are scheduling and back up options. These two features should be used hand in hand as the scheduling feature allows for regular unmonitored registry cleaning while the back-up feature protects your PC from failing should a vital entry be removed accidentally.

If you want more in depth information about registry cleaning, you should consult Windows Registry Cleaner, which is a comprehensive online resource that will educate you about Windows registries and their role in the proper functioning in PCs.

These days, it’s easier than ever to clog your Windows registry with tons of freeware applications. Cleaning out your registry using a registry cleaner for XP or whatever operating system you use is the best way to maintain your PC’s speed and performance.

Registry Cure – How to Cure Your Computers Registry

August 3rd, 2009

Registry Cure is one of those programs that makes it seem like everything will be alright. With the tempting offer of a free scan of your computer’s registry, you trust the program to give you the results of all the problems on your computer. However, many times Registry Cure may not be a program that you want to ever use on your computer.

One of the facts about Registry Cure that sets off immediate alarm bells is that it offers a free trial. Any professional program, registry cleaner, anti-virus, or anything similar that offers a free trial is usually not giving you everything to see upfront. They usually only give you scanning ability and then make you install the software license to see how you are able to remove those problems on your computer. While this approach might make sense, it also makes some problems, like Registry Cure seem kind of shady. I went ahead and downloaded the free trial of Registry Cure, risk free, and felt that installation was pretty easy. That is about where the problems ended. I tried to start the program, and it crashed twice. Then, I decided to restart my computer. It crashed again. I uninstalled, and reinstalled the program before I got it to load up for the first time.

The scanning ability of cure was not as bad as I thought it would be. It did a decent job at scanning the entire registry and telling people exactly what each problem may be, and giving them full details on whether they should remove it or do another action to it. When I tried to fix my problems, I had to pay the cost of the upgrade, and was glad to do so. I did not receive the email with my upgrade code, and ended up spending the better part of an hour talking with the people on the phone to get my product activated. That part really annoyed me, as a paying customer, why should I have to wait such a long period of time in order to use the program?

The removal features were hyped, being rather basic and not what was truly needed for a registry cleaner. Sadly, I see this in many other problems, cure is not the first. The backup features for cure were nothing too notable as well. They consisted of the basic backup warning and nothing else. No automated backups or anything. For a professional program, I felt very let down by Registry Cure. The overall design of the program made you feel sick, as it was conflicting colors and not easy on the eye at all. With so many negatives around it, Registry Cure is a program that you should avoid. When you need a registry cleaner, go with a proven registry cleaner that can remove all of your computer’s problems. Do not waste your time with a product that is known for being unstable and unable to fully remove all of the infections on a computer.

How to Fix Corrupt Registry – Your Ultimate Guide

August 1st, 2009

A corrupt registry can do more harm to your computer’s system than you can imagine. You may only experience a slow system speed but it can eventually lead to a complete system reformat if the problem is not solved immediately. A system reformat is most annoying since you will lose all your installed programs and saved files and worse, it might be too late to get any backups. All that inconvenience can be avoided by simply fixing corrupt registry.

There are two ways to fix corrupt registry. First is to manually recover corrupt registry and second is to let a registry fix software do it for you. There are advantages and disadvantages to those two options.

Manually Fix Corrupt Registry

If you choose to manually fix corrupt registry, you should be a computer expert or at least familiar enough with the computer system to be able to follow an expert’s instructions carefully. That means that you know basically the work around in Windows Registry, how to make a back-up of the registry and how to use System Restore.

If the computer’s owner is not an expert on this matter but still wants to have the registry fixed manually, look for an expert computer technician that can do the job. The Windows registry is a database of all files that make your computer system work. A ‘tweaking’ error might cause your computer to completely crash. However, it is good to do it manually since you can be more assured that you got your corrupt registry fixed properly.

Use a Registry Cleaner Software

Using software to do the work for you is easier to use especially for the non-professionals. The software is programmed to detect errors and remove corrupted files in your registry with only a few clicks required from the user.

On the other hand, a user should be wise in choosing good software since there are also glitches in offered online software. One is that there is no assurance that the downloaded software is safe and is from a trusted source. It might contain viruses or malware that might harm your computer. Second is that the software might not be effective enough to fix corrupt registry and might miss some files that are still causing your computer to slow down or to give error messages. It might not just do the fix.

Not to discourage you on all registry cleaners because in fact, the Internet offers several software that you can use to fix your registry. Some of them are good while others are bad. A user only has to weigh options and advantages before choosing one that is best. In this case, the user should only choose wisely. In using an online fix, at least there is no big risk of a completely crashed computer system.

Whether to do it manually or let a good registry cleaner software is your choice. Both ways can give good results based on further actions that a user will take. Just remember that experts always know their business.

How I was able to fix my slow computer

March 21st, 2009

I am guessing that the problem of a slow computer is what which an awful lot of people have suffered from so I have written this account of how I was able to fix my computer in order to help other people. So to begin with lets take a look at what was actually going wrong with it. Well over the years the performance of my computer had dropped off slowly but significantly. The computer took a lot longer to boot up now than it had done and program's now crashed a lot showing the message "this program is not responding".

I had of course thought about replacing the computer but this seemed to me like an expensive option epically as I was not trying to do anything which the computer had not been capable of in the past. So I began to search the Internet for a solution and I came across www.fix-this-computer.com a web site offering advice on getting the most out of your computer. I took a good look around the site and tried the virus checker and the spy ware checker. None of the sans found anything then I noticed the section on the windows registry. From reading the text I could tell that the symptoms that were described were the same as mine so I decided I had windows regsitry errors. I clicked on the link for a free scan and was redirecting to a software site where I was able to download some software which scanned my computer for registry errors. The software identified an incredible 307 errors which took around twenty minutes. I decided to buy the software to fix these errors and when i did this i was given a password to upgrade my trial version to the full version. Once I had done this running the software was very simple and it began fixing the errors within a couple of clicks. It took around ten minutes to repair all the errors and since then the computer has been running like a dream.
