Registry Fix-Find Out If it Works Today

August 6th, 2009

Registry Fix is a program that has been marketed as being the ultimate solution to the problems with your registry. Whatever is plaguing your registry, Registry Fix can fix it! They promise amazing things like one click registry repair and helping your computer become as fast as it used to be. Let’s delve into the features of the system and see whether or not they live up to their claims or if they fall into the hole of disappointment.

One of the first things that I looked at with Registry Fix is if there was a free trial. Many free trial programs are just not reliable. In fact, the program did offer a free registry scan. Even though I am very leery of these, I downloaded it anyways. Installation seemed pretty easy, and was able to be finished rather quickly. One thing I did notice is that they tried to bundle a toolbar with the download, not something that I agreed to, but a nice touch of spyware for someone who is not paying close attention to what they are downloading. After installation, I began the free scan that I was promised. Things seemed to progress along at a rate about half as fast as my other paid for, registry programs. Finally, the scan finished. I was somewhat shocked by the results, it said that I had fifty different infected objects or problems on my computer. This is very strange as I had just ran a scan three days before, and removed the problems with my professional tools.

It turns out there really were fifty problems, quite a few but I guess the free program was right about that. I used a license key to activate the program to professional mode, as I was not able to remove these infections with the free program. The activation took a couple tries, but finally went through. One of the things that I did not like about Registry Fix is that it did not have a wide array of features for the price. It was quite expensive, and with such few features, I almost felt as if the program was some type of software scam. The program also was not as stable as many of its competitors, crashing three times while I was trying to use it. Sure, not many programs stay stable all the time, but three times in one day, that is kind of annoying.

Overall, Registry Fix seemed like a waste of time. With its stability questionable, lack of features and general lack of any major appeal, the program is easily outpaced by other registry cleaners. If you are looking to get a registry cleaner that has been proven to fix your problems, you are best to look for another one as this program does nothing close to the work of a registry cleaner. Hopefully with some reworking they may one day be able to compete with the major players, until then, they are a useless company producing a product that does not contribute anything to the market.

Registry Clean – Your Ultimate Guide

August 5th, 2009

Having a clean registry is one of the best things that you can do for your computer. A computer has many thousands of different files on it, however, without the registry files which are the core of the computer, nothing will work. Making sure your registry is clean of any useless files and corrupted files will help improve your computers performance.

There are many different programs on the market that promise to clean all the problems out of your computer. While many of them do a great job at removing large infections, they usually just scan the surface, leaving you at risk of a computer nightmare. Purchasing the right program to clean your registry does take a bit of research. For example, you will want to purchase a registry cleaning program that has multiple methods of backing up your registry. Having a backup of your registry is important in case your registry becomes corrupted. Some registry programs that are on the market will only tell you to backup your registry, and not give you any further instructions. In order to do a manual backup of the registry, you need to go into the windows start menu, then into the run command box, then type in “regedit”. Hit enter, go up to file, then select export. Make sure you put the registry backup on a removable media, such as a CD, DVD, or USB stick. This will allow you to restore the registry in case the computer or you damages it further along in the process.

Now that you have backed up your registry, you will need to continue with the registry scan. This process usually takes less than half an hour, and will tell you all of the infections, and problems that are in your registry. You should take a careful look at each of the objects that the registry cleaning program lists, and determine whether it is really an infection, or something that you know belongs in the registry. If your registry scan finds no objects in the first scan, make sure you have selected all the options for the scan. Some scans allow you to scan less than the entire registry, which can lead many people to believe their computer is fine, when it is really infected worse than ever. Once you have verified that you have found all the infections that are in the computer, remove them. Always restart your computer after you have removed problems, as the registry needs to do a clean boot to finish the removal of these problems.

Always backing up your registry before you begin any type of registry clean is the most important thing you can do. Selecting all the options for the scan of your registry the first time will save you plenty of extra time later on. Do not purchase a registry cleaning program just because it looks like it will work. You should purchase a registry cleaner that has been proven to remove every single problematic object.

Is Your Computer Running Slow? Ready to Fix it Today?

August 5th, 2009

Computer running slow? Great news! You can do several different things in order to improve the speed of your computer, and best of all, they will only take you a few extra minutes to do.

The first thing that you should do whenever you are trying to determine the reason your computer is running slow is to see if your computer has a virus. Running a virus scan takes about an hour, or more depending upon the size of your computer, program, and frequency of scanning. However, you only need to be present when the scan starts, and come back whenever it finishes. Remove any infections that the scan has found on your computer, and restart.

Next is a spyware scan. This can include malware, adware and spyware at the same time. These scans usually are quite a bit shorter than the virus scans, but can find problems that the virus scans do not. Remove any infections and then restart your computer to continue.

Now that you have removed any of the possible infections within your computer, you need to remove them from the core files. Many virus and spyware programs only scratch the surface of the infection, especially when your computer is running slow and to remove the entire thing you need to go to the registry. Registry cleaners are one of the most valuable tools in your arsenal. Sure, they may not always need to be used, but running your registry cleaner before your virus and spyware programs will mean that you only remove the infection at the time, and not permanently. Run your registry cleaning program, then remove any problem files, and fix any other ideas that the registry cleaner has. However, make sure that you did backup your registry before doing so! Even with the highest quality of registry cleaning programs, things occur that make your registry unable to function properly. Restart your computer after you have finished the registry scan.

Your computer should be running blazing fast! If it is not, there are a couple more things that you can try to improve the speed. Defragging your hard drive is where you can move files to combined places on your hard drive for easier access. This will take a fair share of time, but is great for your hard drive’s access speed. Running a system cleanup on your hard drive can be great as well. System cleanups will remove any files in your recycle bin, temporary internet files and more. Most system cleanups take less than five minutes, as long as you did one within the past six months or so. If you have never done one, be prepared for twenty to thirty minutes as the computer purges large amounts of data.  If your computer is running slow, you should always run a registry cleaner program. However, do not use just any registry cleaner. You need to use a registry cleaner that is a proven to remove even the smallest infection from your computer.

How to Stop your PC Running Slowly

June 16th, 2009

Why is my computer running slow and what can I do about it? Isn’t that the question we have all asked ourselves at one point or another during our life? Our brand new spanking machine (or so we thought) has turned from a speed freak to a sludge machine. Well, there are many reasons why any computer could be losing the cutting edge speed it was designed for and here I will tell you several reasons why.

Dreaded spyware and adware. You have to realize that there are people out there that want to infiltrate your machine for their financial gain and they will employ a number of methods to achive this. Spyware and adware are running rampant on the internet and they install billboards and tracking software on your PC that you do not know about. Not only are these an invasion of your cyberspace integrity, it is also a main culprit of computer slowdowns. A good adware and anti spyware program will do you wonders.

Fragmented files and folders are a huge reasons why we grow old waiting for a single program to load. It is the cause of stress, high blood pressure and charred remains of monitors and desktop husks lying at the foot of a high rise building. Defragment. It is a very simple process to run. you can download de-fragmenting software from the web or just simply run the one that comes with Windows. Do it at least once a month, because the build-up of files and folders do get fragmented eventually and Windows has to painstakingly re-fragment everything just to launch even the most basic of programs.

Registry errors. The most overlooked problem in the world of computing. The registry is like the index to a book except it’s the index to your Windows operating system that tell Windows what programs are available to be run and all that kind of stuff. Once that gets corrupted, you are literally going to be handling a very slow machine. Registries a few months old will always contain null values, confused registry entries from bad installs, orphaned keys and traces left by viruses and spyware. A cluttered registry full of errors will more than likely slow your PC down to an unbearable level. A recognized registry cleaner will sort out your Windows registry to the point where you’ll think you’ve just gone out and bought anew PC.

Now imagine a combination of problems running hand in hand, choking your computer into a stutter. The best thing to do is to get your PC scanned for problems. You’ll find loads of scanning software online to help you identify potential problems. They are mostly free to run and you’ll be suprised at how many problems they find. Invest a little and stop your computer slowing down.
