Big Brother Could Be Watching You: The 5 Most Common Uses of CCTV Systems

April 21st, 2009

Normal 0

Did you know you “Big Brother” may be watching you! everywhere you go? CCTV camera systems are everywhere these days -we take a look at the different ways in which CCTV is used .

Close-circuit television, also known as CCTV, refers to the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place within limited set of monitors. The system works by installing video cameras, which often tilts and pans the room, in strategic places that can give a wide view of the location. A security personnel usually observes the footages recorded by the camera into a remote monitor. The most common uses for CCTVs are for surveillance and security. Nowadays, CCTV systems are available for a private individual to install for the security of their homes and properties.

Here are the five most popular uses of  CCTV camera systems.

Surveillance of public areas. CCTVs are commonly found in most public places such as banks, airports, subways, stores and malls, and even in the streets. Having a CCTV system can provide a sense of peace and safety to the everyday citizen. People are comforted by the knowledge that criminals and terrorists are less likely to commit violent acts when there are cameras around.

Surveillance against crimes. Many case studies had proven that the presence of CCTV, whether visible or hidden, reduces crimes against people, as well as incidents of violence. The fact that the suspect’s details can be recorded in the cameras and can be used to catch him later on can greatly deter someone from committing an offense. Other than monitoring criminal acts, the surveillance systems are also being used to combat anti-social behaviours which include minor offenses such as littering, urinating in public, drunkenness, traffic violations and other public order offenses.

Security for commercial premises. Many businesses today have CCTVs installed in their establishments, not only to prevent theft and vandalism and to have a 24-hour surveillance capacity, but can also provide video footage to the police in case something did occur. Some businesses have also found other uses for the CCTV besides security purposes, in which they allow their customers to view their services through the use of the internet. That way, customers can see their items, and it provides a great personal touch, as well as helps catch any errors before the customer even receives their package.

Home security. What used to be very expensive, and hard to configure systems are now very reasonable, easy to configure, and easy to maintain, and they provide much more versatility and usefulness than just a few years ago It has become increasingly affordable for private individuals, as they can now install CCTV on their homes and property to provide security to their family and homes. This especially useful if no one would be staying at the house.

Traffic maintenance. With cameras watching the roads, it has become easier for many traffic and transport groups to observe the roads. It enables them to spot accidents, obstructions and any other road problems, allowing them to identify the location and fix it right away .This would prevent any other traffic problems that could arise if such incidents are not immediately noted.

3 Different Types Of Camera

April 15th, 2009

This article will outline 3 different types of camera’s: Box, Folding-Roll, and Viewfinder. This information will help you decide which camera suits your photography needs the best.

For over several decades the box camera was the gadget of choice for the typical amateur photographer. This is because it was cheap and simple, yet still capable of excellent results under most conditions. Box cameras were usually fitted with a single-element lens, a limited range opening control, and a single-speed shutter.

Next up is the Folding-Roll Film Camera, which was also very popular but not quite as much so as the box camera. The folding camera came in several types of formats, but basically, it was a box camera whose lens was included into a movable disk that could slide back and forth on a rail, allowing the lens to change focus from close to long range.

There were more complicated models available, but they were more expensive and considered very high quality. But, the most important benefit that they had over the box camera, was their compact design when folded, which made them easier to pack and transport. There has been something of a minor renaissance in folding-roll film cameras in recent years, with appearance of several new professional instruments. They are appreciated for their large negative size and compact design.

Next is a Viewfinder type camera which does not use a lens to view the subject but instead relies on a separate viewing system in the camera for aiming and for focus. The range finder camera allows for accurate focus, however, by using two views of the same subject to adjust focus. In this camera there are two images in the viewfinder. One is usually only a portion of the viewer area and is usually slightly yellowish in color. The photographer adjusts the focus ring on the lens and as they do the two images move. When both on directly on top of each other they blend together and almost disappear which signifies that the camera is in focus. The rangefinder is accurate and very quiet as well as being light weight. It is also useful for taking pictures in low light conditions or for candid photographs. These cameras can easily be spotted because of their double view windows in the front.

Enjoy your photography hobby and remember – keep experimenting with different angles and new lighting. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Top Things To Know About The Nintendo DSi Console

April 6th, 2009

The new Nintendo Dsi is about to launch, a lot of DS and DS Lite owners are probably considering whether to buy the new Nintendo DSi or not. The DSi has been in stock in Japanese shops for quite some time now. During the first few days they sold literally hundreds of thousands of consoles, but sales have slowed down. This is due to advertisers reducing the amount of airtime for the gadget and move onto the next craze. To help buyers, here are some of the new features in the Latest Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi will still be able to play the old DS games as well as the games exclusive to it.One disappointment is if you have retro games. The Nintendo DSi can't cope with the old format. However, I believe the new games, which can be downloaded for the DSi, will be superior. There is now an SD memory card slot in the latest release of the Nintendo DSi.

The Nintendo DSi is slimmer then the DS Lite. The screens on the DS Lite were about 3 inches but the newer DSi has screens that are 3.25 inches. The audio speakers are massively better which means users get superior sound quality.

The “latest model” benefits from having two motion detecting cameras which give the user ultimate interactivity when playing games. You also get a terrific camera to take high quality snaps. Photos can be stored, shared and edited.

The Nintendo DSi doubles up as a portable music device that allows users to listen to music in aac format. The user can mess around with the sound too.

There are many ways of buying a Nintendo Dsi, but Click Here to get the best internet deal on the latest Nintendo DSi.
