Is Your Computer Running Slow? Learn How to Instantly Speed it Up Today

August 1st, 2009

Having a computer not only means surfing the net, downloading movies and music, or playing games day and night. It means having the responsibility of maintaining it and monitoring its performance so that you won’t have to deal with a computer running slow and sluggish all the time. But if you’ve been downloading and installing a lot of programs or have files that eat up a lot of space, then most likely it’s time that you do the following in order to speed up your computer’s speed to what it was like during the first few weeks after purchasing it from the computer store.

•    As mentioned previously, one of the biggest reasons why a computer is running really slow, especially during start up and shut down, is because of files that are big in size and that eat up a lot of space. Most likely 50% of those files you don’t use anymore, so if you want to free up space to boost your computer’s speed, you need to get rid of them from your hard drive. There are two ways to do it: 1) You delete them all together from the recycle bin and 2) You back them up by burning them into a CD or DVD in case you’d want to use them again in the future.

•    The next thing to get rid of in the list? It’s definitely the start up programs that you didn’t even know existed in your computer. Take the time to check your list of programs and see if there are programs and add-ons that you rarely use at all. If there are over twenty of them in your computer, then most likely this is what’s eating up your hard drive. You’ll be able to boost your computer’s speed by 30% after uninstalling them.

•    Next, every once in a while, perform a disk defragmentation as this will definitely improve any computer running slow. Defragmenting your hard drive basically means manually or automatically organizing your files and this process helps in freeing up a lot of space in your computer. After defragmentation, you’ll notice that the speed of your computer has already increased by 20% or more.

•    If all of these still don’t work, then most likely what’s causing your computer running slow is a virus or malware. You usually get this from downloading data from harmful websites with pop-up windows and unnecessary ads, so it would be best to get an anti-virus program that can get rid of the virus immediately. Some of the best anti-virus programs can be bought either in the computer shop or online, but if you want to get rid of the virus immediately, buying online would be your best bet.

•    Lastly, the most forgotten solution to any computer running slow is cleaning up your registry files. These files are created every time you install or uninstall a program so take the time to clean up your registry using a good and reliable registry cleaner software every now and then.

Registrysmart- Does it Really Work?

July 31st, 2009

Registrysmart is a program that bills itself as the intelligent choice in one click PC repair. However, Registrysmart may not be as smart as it seems. Let’s take a further look at the various features that are included with this registry repair tool.

Some users of the registry editor tool have been complaining about the long times of scans. Many people who have installed the tool, and then start the scan right away say that that it takes as long as three hours to scan your entire computer! Many other registry fixing programs take as little as thirty minutes to complete the scan, even on a computer that is filled with hundreds of thousands of files.

Another problem with the windows installer error tool of the program is that it can cause problems with certain other programs installed on your computer. People who are not aware of what they are doing can cause the program to delete hundreds of files that are needed by other programs that install themselves using the windows installer. The fix for this problem takes several hours, and is very complicated to install.

Even with the best of automated software, not all problems can be fixed automatically. While the makers of the program do say that nearly all problems can be fixed with one click, some programs, despite numerous attempts cannot be fixed! While this may seem like a small problem, with files that are this important in the registry, you really do not want to be messing around. You can cause permanent damage and may never be able to use your computer again if you are not 100% sure what you are doing.

Internet Explorer errors are another supposed problem that this program tackles. However, in order to do so you must install a large and cumbersome toolbar in Internet Explorer. Not only does this cause your computer to slow down, but it looks extremely ugly and almost never detects any problems. The problems that the program does detect it fixes, however, for the few problems it detects it is just not worth it.

One of the most promising features of the program is that it will supposedly stop your PC from freezing or crashing. We were really looking forward to seeing how the program did this. However, while the program was running, our FireFox browser crashed and then caused a cascading crash of the system. We failed to see how the program itself was able to stop the PC from freezing and then crashing.

The DLL files the program asked to repair required us to download the files. In cases where people need the DLL to get back online again, users may not be able to fix their computer. Not only is this extremely frustrating, but it would mean that your computer is worthless except for word processing.

Registrysmart will not fix your computers problem. In order to really fix your computers problems you need a proven registry cleaner that cleans out each and every one of your computers issues.
