Finding Network Cables for Personal Computer set up

December 31st, 2009

From inexpensive previously owned Think Pad Laptops. When setting up a personal Desktop Computer (PC), one of the major considerations should be quality of networking available. Since you need to ensure that there will be faster connection to, you must make sure that the Computer network cables you will be using are efficient for this type of work.

Advantages of network cables

Wired networking for Desktop Computers depends greatly on cables and wires. This is why choosing what kind of network cable to use is very important. In the market today, there are basically two general categories of cable-the copper and the glass.

For those who don’t have much money to spend, copper wires are more ideal since these can be cheaper. But if the PC rental owner is after quality, glass is ideal. Since it has over 100 meters, it is suitable for almost anything because it has a lot of electromagnetic interference fields.

Another consideration in choosing network cables for Personal Computer is the exact specification of what to be used. You need to properly specify which one you really need. Experts recommend Cat5e or Cat6 cable because these are the most common and dependable networks cables being used by many in the industry today because these are good in moving data over a fast network in no time.

The trend in Desktop Computer networks these days is getting wireless. However, this type of network is prone to many problems that is why many people-especially first time owners-still prefer to use hard-wired networks. This is because wired and cable networks are faster, more secure, and generally, more stable compared to its wireless counterpart.

Experts say that for those who are just starting in using a Desktop, wired networks are still preferred because these can run at 1000 megabits per second (Mbps) compared to wireless networks that have run at the top speed of just about 50 Mbps. Aside from speed, another reason why wired network cables is ideal because of its security. Many Computer owners prefer wired networks because these can protect their resources better compared to wireless networks that are open and available to everybody that has wireless device.

Experts, because of its stability, also prefer wired networks. This is because they believe that it is the best way to go for the owner to protect his or her investment. Although wired networks can be also prone problems, its extent is much smaller compared to wireless networks that are subject to too interference slows down the entire system.

Fast facts on Computer Hard ware

December 31st, 2009

From cheap ThinkPad notebook computers. Knowledge of Computer Hardware is the very basic thing that one needs to know if he or she has plans of starting up a personal Personal Computer (PC) from a scratch. This is because if one is knowledgeable on this, he or she would know how to choose the components needed and that person could also save up some money since he or she can opt for lesser known brands.

The most basic PC Parts includes the monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse. But, there are so many Computer Hardware components needed to make the PC perform its function. Aside from the physical components, you will also need operating system and a number of software. The following are some of the basic components of PC Components and its specifications:

The Central Processing Unit or CPU: This is directly related to the “motherboard” which is the very body of the Computer itself. For the CPU to perform its functions as the brain of the Computer, it needs: a heat sink and fan; the chip set which is responsible for bridging the CPU to other components of the system; the memory or the RAM which is responsible for running processes and applications; the BIOS that includes power management and boot firmware; and the Basic Input Output System which handles the operating system drivers.

The power supply: Since Desktops depend on electricity as the power source, the power supply is needed to make sure that everything will work. Components of power supply include the power cord, the switch, and the cooling fan.

The video display controller: This is responsible for producing the output for the visual display unit and is usually built into the motherboard or sometimes attached in its own separate slot such as the PCI, the PCI-E, the PCI-E 2.0, or the AGP like a graphics card.

The removable media devices: This mainly refer to the Desktop storage. The most common removable media devices – which are suitable for data and music – in a personal Computer include the Floppy disk which is considered as an outdated storage device; the Zip drive which has a higher capacity than Floppy disk, the compact disc (CD), the CD-ROM Drive to read data; the CD Writer to read and write data on the CD; DVD which is a higher memory type of CD; the DVD-ROM Drive; the DVD Writer; the DVD-RAM Drive for express reading and writing; the Blu-ray Disc for high-density data storage and high-definition videos; the BD-ROM Drive, the BD Writer; and the USB flash drive which is flash device used for memory data storage and has big capacity.

Dress up your PC with Desktop Cases

December 31st, 2009

From cheap rolling laptop computer bags. Computers, of course tell people how much we can still accomplish and what more we want for additional investments. If a person sees that a Computer is gathering dust in home office, first thing that comes to mind is that business is not that good too.

But if that person sees a Desktop Computer in a home office with every imaginable peripheral and upgrade strapped into a piece of machine that only takes Sundays off, he would probably think that business is great. Why? Because of the way the Computer is set up. The Personal Computer gives that person an idea of the frequency of usage the owner has on his PC. And with all the upgrades that he can afford for his Personal Computer, you know that he making money.

So it’s not really a far-fetched idea to ‘pimp’ your Computer up. And one of the things you would have to look into when setting up your Desktop Computer, to look like the mack daddy of pimpsville, is visual presentation. As they say beauty is only skin deep. The right look for your Desktop would greatly depend on your personality and how you use and intend to use your Personal Computer. Let’s start with the basic, Personal Computer cases. In choosing the right Desktop Computer case for your PC, you should take into consideration the location and the responsibility of that PC. If your Computer will be for office use, the Personal Computer case should have a contemporary design and aesthetic but still poses a statement.

A Desktop case in black or midnight blue would be a fine choice for an office environment. It’s not too flashy but not too shabby. And if you’re using your Computer for home and individual use, Computer cases that are compact and space saving would be most appropriate for you. Because of the sheer size of a desktop, having Computer case that’s edgy but compact is the way to go when trying to impress people.

And if you are the serious internet and Personal Computer jock, a PC case looks ultra-techie and still has that element of coolness would be the best choice for a PC case. Because of the right balance geekiness and machismo a Desktop Computer case that carries both aspects can lure away stereotypes.

Customizing your Computer to look just the way you like it is not that big a deal, there are a lot of Computer kiosks and stores that offer deals on Desktop Computer cases. All you have to is to find out what is the look of the Personal Computer case your trying to project. Because the Desktop Computer case can only do so much for the image of your Personal Computer and you, the rest is up to you.

Cool Desktop Components

December 31st, 2009

From affordable HP laptop computers. Yes, it is indeed cool seeing all those electronic components come together to create a PC. But the ‘cool’ in the title refers to the system that you have installed to keep the temperature of the PC at a minimum. If you own a personal Desktop Computer in your home then you probably know the importance of keeping the whole Desktop system cool. Heat is probably one of the most dangerous elements to your Desktop Computer.

Your Computer Hardware can be cooled with the simple fans and having cooling vents in your PC case. There are, however, some cooling systems that use special liquids to keep the processor heat down so performance and overall integrity of the Hardware is not compromised. The level of cooling system that you use on your personal Desktop depends on how insane your Parts, how insane you customized your components and how insane you are using your personal Computer. The more work you do with your Computer the harder the Personal Computer components work and the more you need some coolant to keep the heat at or below the threshold.

Now for bigger systems like Desktop Computer networks of big companies, you’ll find that they use a more extreme cooling system. Now these big Computer networks use big servers that need to have a sustained temperature of around 72 to 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus the humidity should be maintained as well. According to experts, an ideal humid environment should be 45 degrees. One could go to up to 60 percent that anything beyond that is totally unacceptable. And of course, these cooling systems should be capable of running round the clock and should have backup power supplies in case of the primary breaks down. You cannot afford to loose all your company data due to something that you could have prevented in the first place.

Housing your large components like big Computer servers needs some planning as well since the structure itself can be designed to allow the free flowing of cool air which adds to maintaining the temperature at low levels. Consider having mesh front and rear doors for server cabinets since the design allows hot air to freely escape from the server.

Some who can afford install chiller systems which use glycol or plain water coolants. These kinds of cooling system for your Computer Components are made up of combinations of chillers, pumps and pipes. With this system you will need a bigger space and regular maintenance is absolutely necessary.

Is this cool or what?

Desktop Computer Printer Features

December 31st, 2009

From cheap rebuilt Gateway laptop computers. Purchasing a Personal Computer printer usually requires you to better understand its many different features. With a wide variety of Personal Computer printers available, you should be sure that the one you buy would fit right in to your own printing needs. Getting to know and understand a printer’s general features would allow you to make a more informed choice before you dish out any money from your pocket. Here are the usual Personal Computer printer features that you should know about.

Printer Resolution
Printer resolution usually refers to the maximum number of dots per inch that the machine is capable of printing. Dpi is measured both by the number of dots that appear horizontally and vertically on a single inch of paper. The higher the dpi, the better would be the quality of the print. But it can also mean more ink use. To give you an idea, a 600 x 600 dpi printer can print 600 dots horizontally and the same number of dots vertically on a one inch piece of paper. The higher the dpi of the printer, the more detailed its print out becomes, both as text or images.

Print Speed
This feature in a printer refers to the number of pages that it can print in a single minute. Measured in ppm, it provides buyers with an idea of how fast a particular printer can print in a minute. But buyers should bear in mind that usual tests to determine print speed do not necessarily make use of the usual print quality that you may be accustomed to.

Since a higher print speed usually means a faster and more attractive printer, most manufacturers usually go for printing using the lowest quality setting on plain paper in order to get the highest possible number. As you may have realized, such prints would not be the ones that you might have in mind. Expect the print speed to be half as that promised by the manufacturer when used for better quality prints.

Paper Handling
Another feature being looked into in printers are their paper handling qualities. This will refer to the number of different paper sizes and thickness that it can print as well as its capacity. Top of the line printers used in most offices usually have better paper handling features in that they can accommodate a variety of paper sizes and quality. The most basic of printers can only handle a single paper to print at a time.

Basic Guide To Computer Hardware

December 31st, 2009

From Cheap gamer notebooks. Through time, the popularity of Computers is becoming more about necessity than any other reasons. A lot of companies and individuals rely on this machine to be able to perform their tasks and duties. If not for this technology, there are many innovations that will cease to exist and prosper for the past, present and future years. You don’t even need to understand what goes inside your Personal Computer Hardware for you to be able to use it. But if you’d like to know its components, here is a brief look about the subject.

These are some of the parts that comprise the Hardware of your Computer.

1. Central Processing Unit or CPU. This part, along with RAM and Hard Disk Drive, will determine the speed of your system. If you are looking for valuable finds these days, it will be better to choose CPUs that are Dual Core or Quad Core than the older version like the Single Core because this is much slower as compared to the newer versions.

2. Motherboard or Main board. This is the biggest Components on your Computer system. The essential components are connected to this. These include the Hard Disk drive, RAM, CPU and some types come with add-on components like sound and graphics card and LAN port. This is an essential part of the system, so you can’t risk and buy second-rate quality and brands.

3. Hard Disk Drive. Most people are very aware of this part, especially when they want to install many programs, including songs and movies on their Computers. The higher the storage capacity of this drive, the more files and programs you can store on this. You can keep the files for as long as you want. Just make sure that the memory can still accommodate such. If you are already running out of disk space, you can delete unnecessary files and programs. You can also choose to upgrade the drive or use external memory storage tool like flash drives or memory cards.

4. Random Access Memory or RAM. Data on your system are temporarily stored on these memory chips known as RAM when your Desktop Computer is turned on. It helps the CPU to perform faster. The data on the RAM will be deleted when the Computer is turned off.

5. Graphic Card. Images are rightly displayed on your Personal Computer monitor because of this part. Innovations are also actively happening with this kind of PC Hardware to give in to the demand and needs of gamers.

Avoid Inconveniences, Installing Computer Hardware Properly

December 31st, 2009

From cheap laptop computer briefcase. You will never believe what your Computer Components technical or customer support goes through everyday. I have heard stories of people calling up customer support hotline angry and frustrated on why their PCs are not working. After a few minutes of yelling and even swearing, they found out that the root of the problem is simply having a loose or unplugged cable somewhere. These very simple annoyances can be avoided if you followed some simple steps installing the Hardware in the first place.

For beginners, installing the Components looks quite a daunting task. But actually, all those wires and electronic stuff sticking out goes into specific sockets. All you need is to do is to find out the correct side or the right way to insert the Parts into the sockets.

When adding a piece of Hard ware to your Computer, the first thing that you really need to do is to unplug the power. Do not attempt to install or remove any piece of Parts inside your PC when it is still plugged into the socket. You can short circuit the Desktop Computer that way or worse have yourself electrocuted.

Now if you’re going to start from scratch and install the motherboard, RAM, peripheral cards and all, you will have to learn how to open the Computer case. You usually just need a good Philips screw driver to do that. Screws are often located at the back of the PC tower or case. Once you have it opened you will plainly see where the motherboard should go. Once you screwed it on the stray, you can now insert the RAM. The memory usually goes into the long slots often positioned at the upper right of the motherboard.

The processor now is the next thing that goes in. You placed the processor on the square shaped area on the motherboard. Be careful in doing this to avoid damaging the pins. Remember to place the heat sink and CPU fan on top of the processor. Do not forget this. Your processor needs the fan or it will overheat. The heat sink and fan usually goes on and off with the press of a built in lever or locking mechanism.

The video card would be the next thing to install. Look for a white slot usually on the left side of the motherboard. The blue socket of the card should be accessible through the back panel of the Computer tower. This is where you will insert the monitor cable.

The hard drive and the optical drives would go next. The sockets for the hard drive and optical drives are located usually beneath the processor and are often color coded the blue one for the hard drive and the black one for the optical drives.

A Look At Computer Printers

December 31st, 2009

From discount laptop brand list . One of the more common as well as important Desktop Hard ware is the printer. Computer printers come in different sizes as well as with different added features. Choosing the right Desktop Computer printer would be dependent on what your printing needs are.

Desktop printers are made to serve a variety of different printing needs. From the ordinary home user to a corporate office, different needs call for different printers. Here is a guide to help you look for the right type of printer for your own needs.

Home Use

People who use a Personal Computer printer at home usually look for one that can do a variety of functions. From printing documents to digital photos, a Desktop Computer printer for the home should be of the general purpose type. It is not so much that such home printers should be the top of the line type. With budget considerations, most home printers should be the ones that can get the job done but wouldn’t cost as much to have.

Good examples for such types of printers should be entry level laser or ink jet printers. Laser printers offer better quality prints as less cost when you prefer printing documents. The ink jet printer, on the other hand offers better quality prints for digital pictures. You can choose from either one depending on what type of prints you usually try to make at home.

For Writers

Writers usually go for printers that can print page after page of text at a faster rate since that is what the next novel may require- pages upon pages of text filled prints. Not only that, such prints should also be easy on the pocket in terms of cost per page. For this type of printing needs, the laser printer should fit right in quite easily. Not only would a laser printer offer to print hundreds of new pages at a faster rate, they are also cheaper in terms of expense since the cost less to operate than ink jet printers.

For Photographers

For photographers who require clear and quality photo prints, the best choice would be an ink jet printer. This type of Computer printer offers the best quality image prints. For the amateur photographer, a basic ink jet photo printer would suffice. But for professional photographers who look for highly detailed and professional quality photo prints, they would most likely look for top of the line ink jet printers. Highly sophisticated Desktop Computer Hardware such as printers usually offer added functions and features that include color management tools, more sophisticated ink sets as well as quite an added number of supported photo paper.

For people who have a very expensive laptop you should go for laptop insurance cover. The laptop insurance cover requires that you pay the insurance premium to cater for your laptop if it gets destroyed by replacing it with a new one. So it is advisable that you should not use the home insurance since high premium will be required to be paid. Cheap laptop insurance is unlike a traditional home insurance; it is actually a dedicated insurance policy.

One of the things that you should ensure that your laptop is covered against is liquid spillage coverage. It is quite common to spill a drink on to your laptop, which may cause it considerable damage. Ensure the insurance policy you take covers this so that you do not have to suffer the loss of your precious laptop.

If you have decided to carry along your laptop on a holiday make sure to check the travel insurance for purposes of protection. One of the benefits associated with laptop insurance cover is that it gives you a worldwide coverage for your laptop. If you go on holiday and are travelling abroad, and your laptop gets damaged you will finally get compensated by getting a new one.

Laptop theft is a risk that many people have to deal with and this danger of insecurity is getting worse each day. Many laptop insurance policies cover the risk of theft. This does not mean that you should not take extra care of your laptop. Always keep it with you and make sure that it is within your sights wherever you are. Did you also know that many laptops are broken by students at college, so consider student laptop insurance to protect those going away to study.

Therefore, you will find that laptop insurance offers many benefits. These benefits you do not ordinarily get from your traditional home insurance policies. With the laptop insurance policy, you can save paying more monthly premiums from the insurance policies you get online. All you have to do is pay small monthly payments on the laptop insurance. This ensures maximum protection for your expensive laptop. Have a look online for gadget insurance websites if you can’t find the right laptop policy coverage.
